Hi Everyone,
Paul speakin', from Somerset. Announcing that we are now delighted owners of a 2002 A2 1.4TDi SE in red, thanks to an extremely helpful and knowledgeable A2OC member chumsofmanutd. Thanks Rob for introducing us to this fun little car with a big heart, and to this forum, although we had done quite a bit of research into the A2 before deciding to go for one. We have owned a few different types of car in the past, but the last one we chose for its practicality, surprisingly lower tax bracket , comfort and economy. It was a Citroen Zsara Picasso 2.0 HDi Exclusive. The only problem I had with it was that every time I approached it, I yawned. When I drove it I felt cocooned in a limousine, it was by far the most comfortable car I have ever driven, but even inside it, I yawned! Great car, just boring, for us. Looking for an exciting and different replacement on eBay didn't help, everything seemed to be silver, green, or grey, or a 106, 206 or a Corsa, until Fizz found a silver A2 which I almost dismissed out of hand because of its colour. It was local to us, but further enqs with the owner filled in all those questions that are not answered on the item description. You know the one's, the one's sellers leave out because it somehow clashes with their 'excellent condition', 'bargain price' and 'spotless' body' description. Anyway, lots of swatting later, plus lots of what must have been annoying enquiry emails to Rob (chumsofmanutd) as he had the only red 1.4 tdi for sale which really stood out in preference to the other colours, decided our fate. Short story is we travelled across the planet to Robs place, saw it and fell in love. Now we have a car that makes us smile, enjoy every trip out in it, listening to that little 1.4tdi mini roar, accompanied by some pleasant torque, and an enjoyable, firm, but positive ride. Now its a race for who gets to the drivers seat first, which never happened with the Picasso, sadly. Our 'other' vehicle is a 1989 VW Vanagon 1.6TD left hooker Westfalia California Camper with 212,468 miles on the clock, which is our permanent holiday making machine, oh, and that's red, too! Thanks Rob, (highly recommended A2 enthusiast ) and thanks A2OC for being there for us to check out beforehand what to expect from an A2, and for helping us decide to purchase. Well that's it from us, looking forward to being part of the club. Paul & Fizz
