Bespoke Club Branded Number Plate Surrounds

Now we've all had the great surrounds. What are the 2 clips on the back plate for? There's 2 sets of washers and the 2 clips.
Just interested.

Evening Rob,

I did notice the clips and spacers. The washers/spacers are there for flush fitting if there is anything protruding where they are to be fitted. They are of course not needed for fitting to our A2s.

The clips are for securing a smaller type plate which we don't use in the UK.

These spacers and clips along with the many mounting holes does show how good the Helmut-Seitz surround is.

Kind regards,

Tom

I would have thought that they are washers to ensure that the screw heads don't slip through the holes / slots.

At least that is what I have used them for on all of the other surrounds I have used (they all have them, at least all of the ones I have bought)

and who will be the first one to use a red felt tip pen or red paint to brighten up the wording a little? Should look good with a few selected red letters as well as the white ones, rather than all white?

Totally agree Steve. The 'A2' painted red would give the surrounds that final touch of excellence.

I'm sure someone who has a red touch up pen will be giving it a go very soon, maybe I might go to Halfords in the morning and try out your idea.

Kind regards,

Tom

Hi Tom,

Set arrived today. Very impressed with the quality.

Not too fussed about painting the A2 bit red. Really nice job they've done on the raised lettering and logo.

Well done Tom, and thank you for all your hard work to get this sorted.

Now I just need to figure out the best way to mount these things!

Evening everyone,

Excellent work by Tom across all areas from design and sourcing a reputable supplier to the financials and getting these to members. An all round cracking job and polished product that really is top class.

Well done Tom and a pleasure to meet you and your lovely family at the Welsh social.

I am very happy with the quality of these plates and they are easily fitted (thankyou Darren and Murdo) with no extra drilling or screws. I do believe there may be a limited number left over and I would highly recommend buying a pair.

Cheers
Dave:)

OK guys, how do I order them? I thought I read somewhere that they were handed over at the Welsh social.

I didn't order initially as I had just fitted new plates using double sided sticky pads. But despite using double the recommended number the front plate keeps popping off at one end. I should have pre-curved it :(

Any suggestions for getting these sticky pads off? My limited experience is that they crumble to pieces.

There are many tips online Alan. Some I wouldn't want to use such as petrol or a solvent such as white spirit.

In my experience they are very difficult to remove, warming up with a hairdryer and using an old credit card has worked in the past, but be prepared for a battle and allocate some time if you want to remove them completely; depending on adhesion properties.

I am in the same position, but these holders are so good I will be battling with mine in due course. Let me know how you get on please and if you happen on a better technique.

It's an excuse to buy some metal number plates, job for me next weekend, fitted metal plates to my roadster and they look very good
