The Scottish social presented a great opportunity for members to get to know each other. In celebration of John's time with us, I'd like to add this post.

We were honoured to spend time with Sheila and John. John spoke so warmly of the friendships, camaraderie and warmth of the members. It was a joy to speak with him.

It was during a long conversation one evening with John that we discovered that their A2, Barry, was my wife's former A2. The less common special edition 6 spokes and the silver bodywork made me question Barry's original registration mark, hidden by the private plate he now wears. Ironically, I'd not even put two and two together at the fire station when I washed Barry's roof a few days prior - and not for the first time as it turns out.

John was thrilled to learn of the history of Barry, as was Sheila. John's enthusiasm, passion and kind gentlemanly demeanour will forever be etched in my mind as we spoke and shared stories.

I promised to share any images of the car I had with John and Sheila. Tragically John was taken the following day, though I have shared these with Sheila.

The first set are of the original advert from November 2008 when we bought the car and the second set are taken after I'd detailed the car and added my special edition 6 spokes, which I left on when we sold it in 2011.

A small world A2OC, my former Akoya TDI is now Mike's car too. Just reinforces the family and community feel of our club.

This is such a lovely story and a brilliant twist of fate. Although no surprise a cherished and looked after A2 caught the eye of a fellow enthusiast. Very A2OC??

Hi folks. Once the team are all home I'm sure we will share pictures and reports of our holiday in the Scottish Highlands. For now a short update to share with the club - very sadly we lost John Laurence yesterday who passed away after a short and bravely fought illness. He died peacefully in Raigmore Hospital with his wife Sheila by his side.
I'm sure the A2OC community will rally to send Sheila love and support during this most difficult of times. The photo above shows them so happy and John spent his last days doing things his way and on his terms. A brave and inspirational man who I'm thoroughly proud to have met and spent a short time in his company. Big love to Sheila. Team A2OC are here for you always. ♥

Hard to believe its a year since the Scottish Social and a year since we lost John. It was truly a privilege to meet and spend time with such a brave and resilient man who left this earth on his terms. Love to @SheilaJohn on this difficult day and thank you to John for the lovely memories of a special A2OC social that was more about the people than the cars.
What a difference a year makes as well. Who'd have thought we'd be in the midst of a pandemic one year on. So please enjoy the photos again in this thread. And remember we are here for a good time not for a long time.

❤️❤️??
