Today I was thankful for my recent impulse purchase of a pair of cast control arms. I had intended them for @Jeffers66's yellow Storm that I'm picking up next weekend, which has the pressed ones. However I found out that the offside balljoint on my Cobalt car had unfortunately joined the droplink on that side in making enthusiastic knocking noises Supplying my own replacement part saved me the cost and a week's wait for a new one, and being just a bolt-on due to having the attachment with it, saved quite a lot of labour charge too. Guess I'll keep the other one as a spare since I still have two cars that might need it, and look for another pair on the Market.
Also, just come back in from adjusting the NS headlight aim upwards, having replaced that unit while the evenings were way too long to be able to see a beam pattern on a brick wall much before bedtime. I always use the local sports centre carpark for this, where it's nice and flat and the wall's at the less busy end away from the main doors. Being dark meant I could also get away with driving a mile there and back without the bonnet on, that's a first for me It certainly sounds throatier like that!
