Chat My Stolen Audi A2

A sad sad day for me. My Audi A2 1.4Tdi (SR04FYZ) (colour is gun metal grey) has been stolen in broad daylight (impersonating the council impoundment truck) sadly I was not there. Making a quick post to ask if you guys could keep an eye out if any parts are being sold or if the car's whereabouts are known (images are shown below).

Unique parts. If any of you see any lumbar adjustable seats (electric) on Ebay let me know

Also the A2 badge at the rear was replaced with a red 'R' badge reading R2 (I know lol, courtesy of the previous owner).

The car also had a frodged intercooler and Sachs suspension units on all corners. A new gearbox had also been fitted.

Thank you for your help. I'll defo keep a look on those market places as well thanks for the tip.

Yeah defo advise keeping in the garage if you have one! The sinking feeling is setting in.

Hopefully it will be found! Putting trackers on next time. Best first car I could have dreamed of.

Where was it stolen from ?

Sorry to hear this. I mean for us these cars are priceless but for average Joe out there are just small, odd cars worth very “little”. Who would risk jail for a £2K-ish car ??
Are you really sure it was not towed away by the council?
Will definitely keep my eyes open as I’m sure most of members here will.

Firstly, I'm really sorry you have lost your car, I feel your pain as I have had this happen before, gutted for you!

I can see that your car doesn't have a valid MOT on it? If it was parked "on street" then it could have been towed by the DVLA. I would check with them as this is the most likely answer.

Apologies it is NOT the DVLA it will be your local councils abandoned vehicles dept that may get involved. The police will also use ANPR to check for MOT's and the car *could* be uplifted as a result. https://www.thesun.co.uk/motors/6935638/what-to-do-when-car-towed-penalty-fine/

I noticed that as well mrbroons and that would make the insurance invalid
Hope you get it back fella
Expired MoT doesn't invalidate insurance though it will impact payout if the event of an incident. Driving without a valid MoT is an offence though having a valid MoT doesn't mean the vehicle is roadworthy. It's all slightly confusing.
As the vehicle has current RFL, DVLA wouldn't be concerned with it being insured as they have no interest in MoT status per se. Worth noting DVLA no longer allow a vehicle to be insured if RFL has expired. I'm sure this was introduced to stop people driving without RFL though judging by the losses incurred since the abolition of the tax disc I'm not sure it's working. I rather enjoy paying RFL on our fleet of TDIs. ?

Well I'm 50/50 that it's been towed. Looked up on a trace database (for towed and impounded cars) and my car did not come up. I hadn't MOTd the car as I wait for new parts to be replaced on the car ?? Called the police and they checked the car on their database and it didn't show up as being impounded. So have to treat it as if it's been stolen at the moment.

Yeah I don't get the risk over 2k either but to me it's worth more with all the new parts I spent on it!!??

Yeah

Always best to check the simple things first. Did someone see it get taken by a recovery vehicle, is that why you thought this is what happened? Truly weird that an A2 would be stolen, you were over 100k miles I think so coming up to bills on the clutch and flywheel if not done already, lovely car but not really what you would call Sierra Cosworth material - oops showing my age there!

What database are you seeing if my car is taxed? As I received a road tax letter from DVLA, then I checked it on the DVLA and it is taxed until June next year. Something is getting it's wires crossed somewhere

I'll give them a ring tomorrow. Yeah I'm 50/50 its it's been taken. The only item I needed to do was an MOT. I was waiting for parts to fix before I went and done the MOT (Which was this Wednesday!) I hope it's been towed though as I actually want my A2 back ? Missing it already. Thank you for the pointer.

Yes the person that complained about my car being there. They reported it to the council and they replied to them saying they could not do anything because my car had been taxed. So all confusing at the moment going to pop to the impound and manually check it is there as it's not showing up on their databases.

IKR very weird. Not a car worth stealing ? Unless they knew how smooth these A2s run!
