Your A2 related plans for 2020?

Fit the JDD gear box I bought a few months ago along with a new LUK clutch kit mushroom bolt and cross arm
Fit the front and rear bumpers I got from @A2Steve a few weeks ago

Change the rear passenger door for the mint one Steve provided about 12 months ago
And at the same time fit the real electric windows with the help of @timmus

All of which are behind keeping the A2OC supplied with Depronman bits and pieces including door check straps, refurbished wiper arms, fuel filter drain screws, numerous 3D printed parts, long 5th gear mods, OSS refurbs etc etc. The list goes on and on and there is New Year’s Eve beer to be drunk

Happy new year to one and all

Paul

Get a yellow one............although the red C/S has been good so far and I've got the 125bhp engine in storage......….do I need a yellow one...………?????

Plans for this year, my yellow 1.6 lupo a2 GTI thing is awaiting its MOT.

Jobs after I get it back.

- fit the air intake for the cabin
- work out why the new blower motor sits strangely
- new alloys and tyres, have found some interesting ones
- new scuttle, order with Audi 6 months ago not a word since
- custom made exhaust, also have a sports manifold and a standard GTi manifold work out which is best.
- fit Audi TT wheel
- work out have to connect up the air con wiring
- fit all the bolts to the new bumper
- remove broken bolts in the crash bar sigh
- clean the interior
- fit hard touch climate
- fit hard touch head light switch
- finish my HID headlights I started and gave up with last year, recent test shows it will give a nice pattern.
- fit my new battery that arrived today
- fit new yellow stitched gaitor and yellow ringed 6 speed gear knob
- maybe retrim steering wheel with yellow stitching
- paint a wheel arch
- fit undertray
- set the service reminders on all cars to 5000 miles

Not much really, hopefully I can drive it soon!

...…...OK, so I need a yellow one...……..LOL...……..no need to rub it in anymore...……...LOL

If my car fund recovers ..
Full services all round with the local indy who is a genius with handbrakes and just making them run that wee bit better. Look into shifting to specialist insurance for all three cars to have guaranteed valuations.

04 Tdi - rear brake drum casings ; start accumulating collection of bits for rear shocks and various rubber bits (bump stops, bushes, spring pads etc) that need renovating. Plan to buy (if not necessarily fit this year) a 6-speed gearbox when I establish which one to get that is compatible enough, probably to do at the same time as the oil pump chain.

02 Tdi - Replace driver's door. OSS refurb (already discussed informally with @depronman), rear brake drum casings. Crackly/erratic all-or-nothing volume knob on Concert II. Issue with non-DIS information / status screen working sometimes, and otherwise being either blank or simulating Tetris with scrolling lines and blocks of pixels without any warning, sometimes all within the same journey.

52 AUA - thoughts of an AUB swap, new front bumper to fit the new undertray, swap the drivers door skin for one without dents. Need to speak to Tom ( @timmus) about resolving the AUB ECU security number re the immobiliser question with the cluster login if the AUB plans do head towards fruition.

Dave posted the other day that scuttle panels have now been discontinued, might explain why you’ve had no reply from Audi.

Yeah I saw that, it’s a bit annoying need to source another one as it’s causing an engine bay leak on the injectors

I will mount a tow bar and the electrical kit and a Defa engine water heater / heating fan inside car kit.
And of course change all the service parts I bought ? brake discs, brake pads, oil and filter, pollen filter, sway bar bushings and drop links wile I do a thurough check of the rest of the car ?

I would like cruise control and auto diming interior rear mirror but I am not sure it will happen this year

Mrs C is more than understanding thankfully, we have a running joke that everything costs between £10 and £50 (even new alloys and tyres or an entire suspension renewal ?). In other words, she is super tolerant of my love and spending on the A2, especially so as this is our third car and is primarily a show-queen. Sometimes writing things down makes you realise how lucky you are :).

Sounds exactly like my 2019 plan, I did more than my plan and spent 50% more.

Revised New Years resolution......... focus on the things that may take time but don’t cost much, then tell the wife that I’ve spent less and average between the two years.

it’s not going to work is it!

Where i’m perhaps a bit fortunate is that I get a car allowance so the plan was always to spend the equivalent of 1 years car allowance (excluding upkeep) and keep the other car a year longer. With some of my mileage now split between two cars my other car should depreciate a bit less together with cheaper insurance (fewer miles), less wear and tear etc so that was the justification.

The ultimate benefit is that I now have an A2 again which I’ve wanted for over a decade now following sale of the first so in my books a win-win.

I plan to reduce the size of the A2 fleet from 2 to 1, as Will (son) not likely to be driving for a bit.
The Crystal Blue one might be the one to let go first and keep Will's Colour Storm for a bit.

The Crystal Blue one is a bit marmite really with the B8s and the Eibach Pro-Kit springs. It rides a bit like a cast iron bedstead!
It does have lots of nice things though, including Colour-DIS and an A2 Sport wheel with the Tiptronic buttons configured (courtesy of @timmus ( to control the radio.

Decisions decisions. 10 cars registered to the home address is too many though!

You've got to keep the Crystal Blue one! Just replace the suspension with something that doesn't have the material properties of reinforced concrete. :)
