Today I.....

Today I have decided to put my 12k petrol a2 up for sale in spring never thought I would as I have only owned for year ..never driven once collected ...sat in dehumidified garage ..but I have just bought a 13k oss petrol one as many of you know I have been looking for a long time for this model ..years infact ...I take delivery on the 14th of this month ...it leaves me with lack of dry storage ..for these museum pieces ...and as sally rightly says 3 a2s are plenty 4 is obscene ?..along with 3 other vehicles..
I guess that makes us obscene! ?
I like many others look forward to seeing this rare beast when it goes up for sale, I won't be buying coz 5 A2's may get me put in the asylum.

If I had another barn as big as the converted barn we live in I wouldn’t be selling how many a2s left with this milage ..fully backed up with mot history and service history ..☹

Is this 12K example officially the lowest mileage A2 out there? Can anyone beat that? I’d like to see pictures too.

I will get it out easter time and take some pics ..I am hoping a serious buyer/ collector will come along ..it’s getting rarer to find ones like this to put away I have been lucky over last couple years to find the 4 gems I have ..but to find two under 13k ...I should be doing the lotto ?

Today I received my belated Xmas present from wife, a cover tailor made for the A2. Fits to perfection, albeit it makes the A2 look more like an i3 ?
Sadly it will have to go back as after some research seems like a full car cover does more harm than good if used for too long.

Today I changed the reverse light switch and the gearbox oil very rewarding scrambling around under the car, it also gave me a chance to have a proper look at the undercarriage, happy to report all seems well with a recent new ARB and drop link. The only slight issue is the pressed steel wishbones are looking rusty so may give them a spray with ACF 50 unless the hive mind says no. Also would it be a straight swap to put on cast wishbones.
Thanks

I think if they are rusty scabby etc on the out side the inside will almost certainly be the same & having seen the images on here I would be swapping to cast type if finances allow ASAP

hmm yes I should change the O/S as that's crusty where the N/S is just surface. Can I swop them both to cast or is that not an option.

Yes, assuming you plan to keep it, cast is the best option. There's extensive discussion regarding the options though Lemforder are OEM supplier I believe (TRW are Lemforder with some info ground off though the Lemforder owl logo is still present, on mine at least).

Thanks for the information and I will have a search re Cast and what's involved in fitting them.

I have a November '02 (registered) car which has cast arms. Don't know if they were original, although I have had to replace one side when the balljoint went.

Today I achieve a personal best for my FSI in terms of mpg. Not quite all today but I filled up today.

400 miles completed just as reserve indicator flashes. Colour DIS (thanks @timmus, first fill up since fitted) displays 50.2mpg average, calculating brim to brim reveals 49.7mpg. 36.55 litres filled which leaves circa 5.5 litres reserve (42l tank). Colour DIS didn’t indicate any fuel reduction initially so suspect there are 2 additional litres in there somewhere. Considering I’ve had injector cleaner in it for this tank full together with me giving it an ‘Italian tune up’ on multiple occasions, I’m all the more impressed.

The above is not the norm as 65% was motorway driving, normally it would be circa 25% but a 40.64mpg running average for the 1300 miles since purchase is perfectly acceptable to me. ?
