yellow circle in dash with yellow background and a single beep

Does anyone know what the full yellow circle with two part cicles on each side on a yellow background means. Its accompanied with a single beep
Once it comes on it does not clear until ignition is cycled
It's come on a few times recently, when accelerating hard around a fairly tight bend (e.g. joining a motorway with a short slip road an tight turn)

I've scanned the car and nothing is recorded in any control units

Checked break fluid (at the top), topped up power steering fluid, but still doing it occasionally

Hopefully the wider collective on here will have seen this before

Cheers,
Paul

I keep a printout of this chart in my glove box for occasions like this:

Audi dashboard symbols.jpg

yes that is the symbol shown
I would have expected that this is break pad wear warning, but my A2 as suffered from the wiring to the warning sensors on the front pads being connected to eliminate the sensor. It was done when I got it and I monitor the pads by eye, so never bother about it
I'm not sure where the wiring was shorted, its possible that the loom as started to fail higher up
However I would have expected it to reset and go off once the short was removed
It must be removing the short as cycling the ignition clears the symbol

Hi Paul,

This link is quite informative, but the last post gives the ultimate solution to bypass the brake sensor loom...

I will give the blue plug a try. Seem easier than opening up a loom which also as abs wires in it

Are you sure that Audi use the ‘to earth’ method

Yes ,either open the loom and jump the wiring further up the loom or find the pin a the rear of the dash and earth out.Or go to the red plug at the bottom of the left A pillar and earth out pin13/red wire this should have the same result.
Not sure if pad warning cannot be coded out off the dash?

Be aware if the loom is damaged then the ABS (sensor) could also be affected sooner or later. The loom can get rubbed by tyre scrub, worth a check. You may find that the wiring plugs are different to what you expect so always verify with a meter and watch out for the dreaded wire corrosion.

I had the same problem that audifan mentions - the tyre had worn through the loom and caused the light to come on. I didn't know about bypassing and just replaced the loom. I think it was about £100 at an independent garage near me.

Hi Paul,
I’ve got the same problem, pads & fluid are all ok.
Sensor plug on loom broken so not connected
Suspect water in plug or broken/chafed wiring.
Thanks
Keith

I will be doing the connection in the blue plug on the instrument cluster at the weekend
sorted once and for all
should the ABS sensor suffer intermitent connection then I will replace the loom section, but so far the ABS is perfect

Cheers
Paul
