Today I.....

... fitted the pipe of death, the thermostat housing and connected the hoses. Now need to adjust the gear linkage. Do you have to remove the centre console to remove the rubber cover? I know you can make a hole in it but I don't like doing things like that.

No, just prise up the gear stick surround then lift it up , there are I think four little tabs that hold the rubber cover in place, a bit fiddly but it will come away, lift it up and you will see the hole for the drill bit, 5 mm I think, or what ever else you have to hold the gear stick in place.

Dont forget to lock the gear tower in place with the plastic locking pin.

Today and yesterday I refurbished 6 wiper arm, 3 Hook and 3 Aero, from a pile of worm out scrap to better than New Audi Wiper Arms

@Darren C have you met your match? ?
Is @Darren C a bit OCD too?

I bet you (@Darren C) haven’t gone to the extremes I have on occasion. I currently have carpet protection film on my front and rear carpet mats, carpet around centre tunnel, and seat back protectors, to protect the interior from my 2 & 5 year old kids. It looks shrink wrapped but I’m safe in the knowledge muddy wellies and all won’t mark my pristine interior.

Yes......... OCD and proud of it!

A fellow enthusiast, I'll happily share the love. ?

Btw, yes, I have been that attentive and much worse. With my op next week, car detailing will be on hold for 12 weeks or so. How will I cope..?
It might not be for public consumption but I’d like to know how extreme you’ve gone!

Whatever the opp Darren hope all goes smoothly get well soon ..? car detailing can wait until spring /summer ?

Thank you mate, very much appreciated. I had sciatica in November and collapsed, requiring paramedic assistance. I’ve still not recovered. The op is to remove a disc that has collapsed and which continues to trap the sciatic nerve.

Strewth, didn't see that coming was thinking maybe your eyes but then you mention spinal surgery. ? All the best Darren.

Today I am on route to finally collect another A2 from a member on here. It’s a well known car and pretty stoked that it will be in my ownership soon. Mega pleased to get a car that has been an absolute labour of enthusiasm and effort. It was purchased for a number of reasons but primarily to ensure it stays as it is without being stripped down and some desirable parts being separated as that would be criminal.

Today I eventually got round to replacing the dog bone mount. Massive difference to comfort now fitted. The old one was merely a spectator as the rubber was loose. Refitted lovely refreshed check straps courtesy of depronman....always remember to regularly apply white grease people!

Question now is that I'm getting a slight clunk from drivers side front wheel area when going over bumps. More prominent when turning.

Changed drop link 3 weeks ago, front arb bushes refreshed in November, and front suspension also revamped last year including new top mounts. Oh and new cast wishbones. Anything else to look for?

P.s. now I've written all this down I'm beginning to fully appreciate how much money I spend on this car!!
