I bought by accident lol neighbour said another neighbour selling a run around ?

The aluminium was my decider (mileage low as bonus but warning lights not)
I drive through mud/off road regular and my ka(06) is retiring due to being a rust bucket...

My other 'hobby' costs more than the car to keep lol ?

Similar to me. Bought mine from a cousin, car unknown. I had an 08 reg Ford Ka from new. I washed it regularly underneath. The metal quality was appalling; thin and rust prone. It even rusted through on a vertical surface with no crevices. I can gas weld well, but realised this would go on for ever.
Long live my aluminium 1.4 petrol.?

Because of regular driving through mud.. it took an hour just peeling clumps of it from arches and petrol cap area before I could even touch it with a hose pipe nevermind properly washing it! Got 4 yrs out of it and was scruffy before I bought it... off to car heaven in next few days.. reliable enough but too much work now

Always wanted one, took one in as a p/x back in 2003, and drove it about for a few weeks. Change of circumstances due to COVID meant I needed to buy my own car. One passed me and rekindled my desire for one. The rest is history ?

Wife was pregnant. Needed a 5 door car to replace our VW Lupo. I went into full research mode when the wife said she fancied an A2. I had run Audi for years. Has an A3 at the time. But had never considered the A2. Google search. Found this club. The wife regrets her suggestion every day. And the rest is history. Had the A2 since July 2008.

Don't they just! Been there earlier in my life, my son's mother had one when I met her. After he was born I ended up mucking out/putting away
in a hurry every day, on the way to/from work in my suit and wellies. Should have had an old pair of jeans to change into really, my suit trousers needed dry cleaning about every third week because of the smell of horse p!ss ?

As for the A2, I wanted something for the practical aspects of life that my Volvo convertible won't handle very well, like transporting loads and getting through any snow we might get, also to keep some of the mileage off it and to be a general spare car that my sister or parents could borrow at need. I restricted myself to the £30 tax bracket and read up on the sorts of things available.

The only two that I fancied were the Suzuki Alto 1.0 petrol, and the A2 diesel. The Alto was so basic and so cheap I could have just run one into the ground and thrown it away if/when it died on me, but the more I read about the A2 the more I liked the idea.

Beware, they get under your skin and are totally addictive. I ended up spending loads to get mine back to full health and reasonable cosmetic condition, and also started upgrading it ... and bought another two nice ones along the way which have also received various upgrades ... and I've still got the Volvo!

You have been warned! :D

I loved that Ka, but was really disappointed the way it was crumbling. It never let me down, but only 47,000 miles. They'll all disappear soon. I hope the same doesn't happen to A2s, but for other reasons other than rust. They both have a certain quirky appeal.

While I think about it, if you've got an FSI you've probably got the pressed steel lower control arms that .... rust . If you're dealing with that much mud, get them swapped out for the earlier cast ones, secondhand pairs sometimes come up on the Market here. To access the Market, click on your account name in the top menu bar and Account Upgrades, there's a one-off £2 fee via PayPal and you're done.

Bought mine as I’d hankered after one years ago and bought a three year old 1.4 SE from a main dealer but chopped it in after a year or so...I was young (ish!) and went through cars at what now seems an alarming rate and after several more cars and finally the TT I’ve returned for a couple of reasons. Firstly the £58 a month road tax on the TT was ludicrous and secondly it only had two seats and as the kids now need ferrying around to clubs etc something more practical was called for and the usual Fiesta/Focus/Golf’s etc just didn’t hold enough appeal...so the as yet unnamed Dolphin Grey A2 is hopefully with me for the long haul!

Sounds like you did right.. my boys are 19 and 21 .. horse is my present to myself ... expense after they grew up but yeah.. fun to play when no huge commitments but eventually have to find a balance.. eldest loves his volvo c30 ?

Car looks Sexy btw ?

I’ve literally just paid for mine!

I was looking for a small-but roomy and economical car that wouldn’t tire me out over long distances and almost pulled the trigger on a 3 year old Skoda Fabia estate, however just in time I became aware of the Audi A2 and found this forum - see my intro thread

Given I was going to spend twice the amount I purchased my new A2 for, I’m making a few choice upgrades and generally giving the thing a birthday in terms of servicing / brought-forward maintenance jobs, to address any potential future failures and hopefully come close to the reliability that I would have got from the Skoda.

I had the chance to drive an A2 many years ago and that had stuck with me. So with the ULEZ making it's way to the North Circular/South Circular later this year my much loved Mercedes 270 CDI would have to go. With the A2 leaping to the front of my brain, I set out to find a 1.4 petrol because it's an euro 4.

After looking far and wide I found a 1 owner A2 petrol a 15mins walk away at a little dealer. the deal was done with the Mercedes in part ex.
That was December last year. I don't normally do much milage per year but as it stands I've only covered only 1200 miles from then thanks to CO-VID 19 I had been looking forward to the socials and shows.

The jobs so far have been Rear Brakes Drums and fitting kit Brake Fluid Flush, Number plate lights replacement. And clean the throttle body and adapter plate. I'm hoping for many years of fun in my A2.

I got mine 1st one by chance, I needed a winter car as my Ibiza FR auto wasn't much fun in the ice. Round the corner a red cs FSI came up for sale, the main reason for buying was a friend loved them and I thought they were odd, so bought it to make him jealous. Oh dear what a mistake, I really didn't realise how addictive and practical these little gems are. 3.5 years later I still own the original one and at one point owned 4 of these cars in various guises. Only got 3 at the moment but looking for another, like @mrbroons has for sale but can't do black.
Can't wait until we can start gathering properly to see some of you new members and what gems you have bought.

I started a thread on another forum (SELOC) asking what would be an interesting car for commuting and a couple of people recommended A2's then weeks later a mate said he was getting a new car and was going to take his old one to WBAC. I asked what it was and it was a diesel A2 so he said match their offer and you can have it.

£500 later and here I am :)

I'm amazed how good it is, nice to drive, handles better than I would have imagined and costs pennies to run. Plus the underneath looks like a 5 year old car (if that) and it's easy to work on.

Loved the concept and design, bought an ex demo as they went out of production in 2005 and owned it ever since. When my new car arrives shortly it will get a well-earned retirement with some fettling and then used occasionally forever after

What have you decided to replace it with and what did it offer that the A2 didn’t?
