The Definitive Suspension Parts List

springloaded was where I went based on the local price recommendations, no issues at all. Granted, I bought the B4 shocks before I heard of springloaded and they cost me around 30 quid more for the set that I could have got from them had I asked around beforehand, but I don't think I overpaid for them either compared to other places. Let's put it this way : you could do a lot worse than either of those options.

Holy thread revival! Our front suspension has started to become very crashy.

As it's a sport with 17" alloys, I haven't seen any recommended set ups on this thread. Would the B4 with B3 springs be a good way to go? I'd dearly love to get rid of the 'hitting bump stops' feeling over speed bumps. For this reason, the Koni FSD initially attracted me as a panacea for our ills, but they have been largely written off now due to the anger and mistrust created by their response to a faulty batch.

Add the taller rear spring bottom seat and you shouldn't see any issues with stance. There are many happy users of this combo elsewhere.

I put B4s & B3s on the rear of my project Tdi car and they've been brilliant. Had Suplex 03207s on the front of our 1.4i along with B4s and they were also brilliant.

None of the part numbers actually help answer the question "which for my car?", though. The dots and colours do *not* tell us anything about spring rates, axle weights or anything else useful to help establish what was the state of play when the car was new. This also doesn't help with regard to "which B3 should I take?". Axle weights are higher on TDIs and FSI than Petrol. OSS increases them again.

If that's public information about the B3s, source, please.

I wonder how is that ARB on page 5 supposed to work as it looks like it connected to solid axle tube (de dion?) in 4 points and not in the frame at all?

I was wondering that when I first saw these but the ‘solid’ rear axle is not so solid, it dies flex and the ARB adds to Rigidity of that when cornering.

Autodoc isn't a source. They're a supplier and as we've seen before, they can be wrong. If this is from FebiBilstein directly, I'd trust it. From Autodoc, not so much.

It does. The torsion beam axle flexes a lot without the rear ARB and the cornering roll is absolutely minimized with the ARB.
There's probably 50 of them been sold directly into the German club...and it was the club that talked to H&R to get the whole thing designed, put into production, were the testers and had the prototypes issued, then were guinea pigs for the TÜV testing. I believe the first charge of kits was also made contingent on a number of kits bought. The kit also contains a stronger front ARB. But feel free to remain skeptical.

Lots of useful information here, thanks very much.

I'm at the risk of asking a question that may have already been answered here, but bit bamboozled by which bits to finally start scoping an order for my current 2005 1.4 S-Line with OSS and 16" star alloys. It's on 61k miles, one front is damp and I've always been keen to find a less crashy solution to the stock suspension it came with if possible (I understand the A2s are firm as it was much the same on my former A2?). Anything that smoothens it up and future proofs it though given I'll be spending the money.

Bilsteins seem to be popular on here, for anyone who has a 2005 1.4 S-Line with OSS, what list of parts did you go for and have you continued to be happy with an improved ride?

Thanks for your time. Al

Someone has stuck s-line badges on it, pretty sure they never made one!

It's funny you mention that as I had read similar on another thread. ? It's odd because it had 2 owners prior, a lady with a dog for most of its life and the chap who had it a few months in-between before he got seduced by his wife wanting a gruntier Cooper Mini. There is nothing about the car that has been modded or rude boyed so I'm baffled how it would have acquired the S-Line badge if it's not genuine. If they're fake I'll get those removed, can't be having fake tat on it ?

By 2005 wasn't there only one model of A2 available? The stripped out Special Edition, not to be confused with the earlier SE model?
