Hi Tom,

I do like the light interior, very smart.

I had good results using an old beard trimmer on a hairy carpet, re your n/s rear arch but don't go mad.

Great advice Andy,

Thank you very much. I’ll give that a go in the morning.

Tom, question about your double boot lights. Did you use the standard light housings and replace the filament festoon bulbs with festoon led ones, or did you replace the whole fitting for the later ones with the led board inside?

Evening,

I replaced the factory light housings with aftermarket housings which had the LED panel already inside, something like these, similar price but a different seller. The seller I used doesn’t have any listed right now so I am unable to give you a recommendation. What I did purchase arrived in a day or from within the UK.

An LED panel either side the luggage area is extremely bright, which is exactly what I wanted/needed.

Kind regards,

Tom

All you need now is a 20th anniversary sticker and debadging the tailgate. Really looking great.

Sorry I missed this post earlier,

Thank you very much. I was thinking about the Anniversary Sticker, should I wait to affix it though, the marque is 20 years old but my A2 doesn’t join that elite group until 2022.

I have thought about debabging but for now I’ll keep the badges fitted, I want to some how try to keep it looking as factory standard as possible on the outside. Plus I like to show off that I finally have a TDI after 6 years of commuting in a BBY.

I may revisit the question of badges once the Votex is fitted.

Kind regards,

Tom

Debadging is a free service Audi has offered on all its new cars for years, A2 could have been bought originally debadged.
As for the sticker it is the design itself we are commemorating not necessarily the age of our individual cars.

Very nice indeed,

Stop teasing me with the pictures of that beautiful Azure Blue Votex Kit, very jealous that I haven't yet found a factory spoiler... Anyone have one ready to send to Coalville?

Kind regards,

Tom

Thanks for confirming the led board boot lights are the way to go. I had festoon leds and the heat they were giving off was incredible. Ordered led board type.

I unfortunately had to sell my first Votex Kit last Christmas to assist with costs of a repair on the A6, thus didn't purchase one of the last year. Now that I have another Votex Kit it seems that @Birchalls Son has his Votex Spoiler Production Line on hold. Ideally I would like a factory item though as it weighs a little less than the terrific reproduction item.

I guess its just a question of what is available when I have the funds available.

Kind regards,

Tom

That looks great, well done. A bit of envy.
Thank you for your kind words,

Im glad you like what has happened so far to this great little A2.

If you ever want any assistance, Im more than happy to help, you're not that far away and 'usually' visit family members in your vicinity a few times a year.

Kind regards,

Tom

Hi tom
I see you changed from rns mk1 to mk2.
other than the extra sd card capacity and slightly better screen resolution, does the unit actually do anything extra? Thanks

Morning Darren,

I wanted the RNS-E PU mainly for the screen resolution and updated look (piano black surround and chrome buttons). I didn’t use SD cards in the Mk1 but actually do now I have the Mk2 fitted. Only as I have a few 32gb SDHC cards from a very old camera that is no longer used.

With the addition of the road speed icons, which I think cannot be displayed on the Mk1, makes the Mk2 even more a better decision. They’re not cheap but nice things are expensive I guess.

If you’re upgrading from a Mk1 to a Mk2 it’s pretty much a plug and play affair, I am certainly available over a video call if you needed any assistance though.

If you’re still yet to have a DD Dashboard, I can also assist with the fitting and getting the hardware installed. It looks a daunting task but once I’ve shown you what to do you’ll be able to help others out in the future, following and maintaining the ethos of the Club.

Kind regards,

Tom

Ok thanks Tom.
I’d want the speed signs, so maybe that answers that!
I was trying to weigh it up, they’re about £100-£150 more and I will never use the sd card slots, so was curious really. I will need your assistance to cut etc though, whichever way I go! Regards Darren

Darren,

Keep looking out on Gumtree and eBay (possible Facebook market area so but cannot confirm as I do t use Facebook) as I found mine (2012 193G from an A3) for only £260-270. That was with a next day delivery service included. Try incorrect spelling as some cheaper units have sold for less due to not coming up on a ‘normal search’ as the seller hasn’t checked the auto correct. I’ve seen items titled Audi Rinse instead of Audi RNS-E/RNSE.

Deals are out there!

Kind regards,

Tom

Morning all,

I have just been out to the A2 to see what could be done to improve the look of the luggage area after @Andrew suggested the use of a beard trimmer.

You’ll remember from an earlier post that it looked like this, not too bad but there is certainly room for improvement:

A little fluffy so armed myself with a tool that has never been used in any of my A2s before:

I had a grade #3 attached but removed it and went straight to no attachment at all. Here’s what was removed in seconds:

And now looks so much better than before:

Then finished off with replacing the removed items:

Andy thank you so much for your advice which has resulted in a much happier looking luggage space.

Tom

Afternoon everyone,

Whilst I was in the luggage area this morning I thought I’d address the cleanliness of the spare wheel as it did look rather scruffy after it was used last year.
Quick shot of the bracket and Bose subwoofer cleaned, there was quite a lot of dust in that area after the car was stripped for nearly 2 months while a was waiting to reupholster the headlining.

A much nicer, cleaner looking spare wheel than previously posted in this thread. It sits there looking pretty waiting for its next use.
