Today I.....

Today I came across some YouTube videos from a channel called Addspower where this chap has bought a TDI 90 as a project car. I really like Akoya Silver but hey, I’m biased!

Yeah I’ve seen those, the videos are pretty boring though in my opinion

Fixed clicking door lock microswitch.
Just soldered cracked joints.

hope you used leaded solder and a good hot soldering iron or else you will be doing thwe job again in a few years time
Micro switches get the blame but 4 out of 5 times its the solder joints have failed and not the micro switches

I think i did it as it should.
Who dont want to repair can buy used or new part from eg. Golf, Touran, Skoda because for rear door it fits. Just need to keep lines from inside and outsite handles.
Alternative parts for rear doors:

This is interesting. Which symptoms or error codes did you have before doing this repair? Have you refitted and seen that it is ok now?

VCDS shows fault of 'wont de-safe.
When i press unlock button on my remote key door unlocks and clicks one more time.
Door does not auto unlock when key is removed from ignition.
Inside lock/unlock button installed on drivers doors not working to unlock the door.

For these internal microswitches it is normally along the lines of door wont safe intermittent or door wont desafe intermittent. Words to the effect of. Sometimes you can actually hear the lock cycling or clicking trying to get sense from the switches. The external switch on the locks is the door open switch and is responsible for the Dis display, the interior lights and in the case of the drivers door one the fuel flap and alarm buttons also.

@Howey Can't say if the locks are identical but certainly will be working on a similar principal even if the internal layout is not identical. Only way to say if they are the same is by checking if the part numbers are applicable.

I did like the way dim dips faded on and off and they did stop people driving round on sidelights.
Don’t get me started on idiots driving round in the dark these days with NO lights on! ??
It's especially people in black or dark blue cars - road coloured cars - that don't use headlights in gloomy conditions, only sidelights, and you see the car before you see that their sidelights are on.
As far as I'm concerned, sidelights are parking lights and nothing else.

Also seen those vids, 10 out of 10 for effort and pretty well made (although the bar is increacingly high on YouTube now). Thing is the "technial" stuff isn't gospel IMO ( i left comments in the vids).

Found this interesting bulge in the outer sheath of the coolant hose just after the thermostat - can't feel a split underneath but assuming it's been caused by hot water and/or steam leaking from main hose?

@413 Thats not good but is a good job you spotted it before a failure. A quick bit of research shows that it can be an indicator of a wider issues like radiator or thermostat failure. e.g this below plus a few others if you have a google.
