My £25 K would probably buy me a Mercedes SL 1970-1978 ( perfebly in Black ) low millage & well kep/documented as it :

1) can be used regularly
2) Tax free due to age
3) Fun to drive in the summer ( when We have One )
4) A true classic & bullet proof engines
5) Appriciating in value year on year

Further more £25 k in the bank will make you 0.01 % interest ( basicly ZERO ) a classic mercedes would make you a lot more per year.

Thats my idea, anyway.
Actually, with inflation, your £25K will devalue. So, spend it, and more importantly, enjoy it while you can.

Let’s just say I know which I’d choose - can’t believe RWD Fords are so overpriced for what they are, lovely though they can be.

i have a mate that has a 77 trans am in black that might be up for grabs .. i want something i can enjoy and use on a odd week end then also a investment
 
Some photographs of my other car, a 1938 Lancia Aprilia, and a quiz of one question- what is the design feature, apparent from the photographs, or at least two of them, that the Aprilia has in common with the A2?

A single lock on the driver's door .... bet that made it hard work for the driver if carrying lady passengers :)

Ingenious, but of course the A2 offers another way to unlock it. The feature I am asking about is as functional in the A2 in our century as it was in the Lancia Aprilia over 80 years ago.

Wonder if anything to do with the concept of the ability to top up fluids without removing the bonnet?

I wondered that as well. Really couldn't see anything that was apparent in two of the pictures though.

What a lovely thing! I was involved with a Fulvia recently, which I appreciate is a completely different era, but a real engineer's car.
 
I guess the whole profile of the rear end follows broadly the same concept, coming down to almost vertical and narrowing in the body as it does so.

That's it. The Aprilia was first designed with a longer tail, and a continuous curve from the roof to the rear point. A scale model was then taken to the Turin Polytechnic wind tunnel, and it was found that drag was much reduced by truncating the tail with a pronounced downward turn of the curvature from the roof, allowing the air flow to separate from the body. This corresponds to the break point of the roof curvature marked by the A2 rear spoiler.
The Aprilia has a lot of other advanced features, though the engineering detail is very individual and not much followed elsewhere despite its working well, partly perhaps because it was all rather expensively done. The engine is a crossflow, overhead cam V4 of 1354cc. Suspension is all-independent, and it has unitary construction of body and chassis. The Aprilia is much lighter than British vehicles of the period, helping performance a lot, and roadholding, handling and brakes compare well with modern cars. Quite a few were imported to Great Britain, and were very sought after postwar, being tough machines and so much in advance of almost any other car that had modest running costs.
