Up to 80mpg is achievable. My best tank on fully is 85 and I average 75 (UK units, not so impressive with us gallons). Have not been on fuelly for a year but one day I'll get organized again. I suspect I may have the best mpg for a 90 and would like to improve further

What you're saying is astonishing! I drive very carefully and I've got the 6-speed conversion. It's the 75 Kw diesel. too. I'd struggle to achieve 55 mpg. I just can't think how you can be getting those figures? It's unbelievable .....Up to 80mpg is achievable. My best tank on fully is 85 and I average 75 (UK units, not so impressive with us gallons). Wow, can’t believe you get that from a 90! I average a pretty steady 53ish, trying to drive with an eye on economy, which seems to be not dissimilar to the figures I’ve seen for some other 90s, and I know that it’s not because the car’s in a bad state because it’s the same as my dad averaged with it in the first few years of its life.
Averaging 85 mph! So presumably frequently over 100mph. I wish I had roads like that round here.im due to get mine serviced and coolant temp sensors changed and after many decent speed runs to work 60 mile round trip about 85 mph average its still doing about 50 mpg
I like to stay some what inside the law ????Averaging 85 mph! So presumably frequently over 100mph. I wish I had roads like that round here.
Prior to the pandemic, my A2 was averaging 74mpg. Sat on the motorway, I get 80ish-mpg over a long distance without trying. What you're saying is astonishing! I would need to look at my records for 85mpg.My best single trip was about 94mpg from Essex round the M25 to Surrey. I had to do my best to get home with no wallet. I have the myp gearbox, standard 90 other than a map, slightly lower than sport suspension and 175/60/15tyres. For this trip I did coast down slopes and keep speed 50-60 also follow lorries as close as not feeling I'm a nuisance or danger and take wind speed and direction into account. (I used to road race so understand wind resistance). I feel could do slot more aerodynamics wise, but all standard at the moment. The 50mph smart motorway roadworks has been very useful for the counties emissions!
Away from the motorway when slowing down its a mix of coasting or in gear down to1100rpm in gear cuts fuel supply. Turn off engine at lights. I do not start the engine just to move 10 yards; I may push 10 yards at the pumps or to adjust my parking. I do not use Aircon unless I need it, or heating until the engine is warm. I make few short trips.
With mpg its lots of little things. I still enjoy the odd blast and pre virus each tank would include a trip into the outskirts of the city zone, but not morning rush hours.
Hope this helps
