Timmus in the South East - Summer 2021

Hi Mark,

The plan is for me to arrive in Leighton Buzzard on June 11th. From previous experiences, my stays usually last between two and three weeks. So, even though there's currently no scheduled end date for my stay in Leighton Buzzard, I think the likelihood of me still being there by July 14th is extremely slim. Whilst I expect to be busy, I can't see A2 owners keeping me busy every day for 5 consecutive weeks. I'd probably also find that my partner had left me if I was working away for so long!

I'll need to await further replies before a firm schedule can be drawn up. It'd be great to meet you and deliver your birthday present ...even if it is a little early! :)

Cheers,

Tom
Thanks for the reply Tom, I've spoken with the general and she has said I can get it done a month early, so I'm free for any date that will work for you after the 14th of June.

Regards,Mark

Excellent, David. That is all possible, though it'll be an early start and a late finish. I'm OK with that if you are.
There was also talk of a MFSW. Are we delaying that until another time?

My trip to Horsham remains uncertain, as it will depend on Ami's availability during my time based in Leighton Buzzard. Leighton Buzzard will be my base, with a brief 'satellite trip' to Horsham to provide services for those who definitely cannot get to Leighton Buzzard. One member, for instance, is unable to drive for more than about 30 minutes due to a medical condition. To do a full SideGuard installation, especially with other bits and pieces alongside, I'll need to be in Leighton Buzzard.
This was a little unclear in my original post, so I’ve edited it. Sorry for the confusion.

Looking forward to finally meeting you.

Cheers,

Tom
Ah got it thanks for clarifying. Well that’s settled then. How about the first Monday you’re there? I would then be able to drive to my parents’ the Sunday night before and set off at 6am on the day from slough knowing I’d be well ahead of M25/M1 traffic.

Oh, just remembered that one thing that I’d rate as higher priority than the boot and fog lights is installing an additional power socket somewhere discreet under the dash for my wireless phone charger / holder and dash cam (or else hard wiring these and the connects2 into place - which would be even better). I would be normally be happy to have a go but frankly, if someone of your calibre is going to be pulling the interior apart anyway then I’d 200% rather go with you doing it to your standard.

Finally - Whilst the MFSW install would be great, I’m still not convinced on the A2 SE style of wheel - maybe I need to get the rim redone thicker. Then again, maybe I would love it as-is - and then there’s the A1 wheel in Akoya. Decisions....

Also, yes really looking forward to meeting you too Tom. You must let me know what your favourite tipple is, I ended up with Merlin (as the car was then known) due to your furnishing me with a crash course in A2s and what spec I should focus in on.

Hi Tom .

Registering my interest for a slot when your down in L.Buzzard.....unsure what is or isn't going to be possible from my extensive list of requests. Please let me know.
Many Thanks

Hi Tom, I'm also looking for a slot while your at LB for a colour DIS to go along with the cruise you fitted last year.
Thanks
John

Hi Tom,

Thanks for your speedy response, yes please. The only day I can't do is the 13th. Would you want me to bring support brackets?
Looking forward to seeing you.

Kind regards

Simon

Indeed, it's come about sooner than I expected, too. However, there's a good window of opportunity in my schedule, so it's happening. :)

Leighton Buzzard will be my base, with a brief 'satellite trip' to Horsham to provide services for those who definitely cannot get to Leighton Buzzard. So, if you are able to get to Leighton Buzzard, that would be preferable, as my time in Horsham is probably going to be stretched.

All noted. 'Project Sicily' is happening!
I currently have 10 Colour DIS instrument clusters in stock, a majority of which are already assigned to club members. However, I suspect I have one or two spare.

Cheers,

Tom

Thanks Tom, I can be quite flexible as I mentioned before, so just slot me in whenever you can. I'll think about the colour DIS and give you an answer as quickly as possible :)

Great service from Tom today for Danene and myself. Just a horn fix plus mini DIS for me. Danene needed a little more fettling on her car.
James.

Hello good people of A2OC,

The easing of the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions means that, once again, I am able to travel to provide A2 services. I'd like to thank everyone who has brought their A2 to me over the last months and supported me during these challenging and uncertain times. It is much appreciated.

I'm acutely aware that I still owe a number of club members replies to their messages. Unfortunately, being my own secretary, I can struggle to reply to private messages promptly when work is busy. Rest assured, no message goes unanswered and I will get back to you. Thanks for your patience.

From Friday 11th June, I intend to base myself in Leighton Buzzard, just to the north of London. Massive thanks are owed to @Proghound for allowing me to work and sleep at his house. The length of my stay in Leighton Buzzard is determined solely by the demand for my time; there is no strict date in my diary by which I must depart. From previous experiences, my stays usually last between two and three weeks.
It is also my hope/intention to visit @Ami’s workshop in Horsham. This will make my services available to some club members who aren't able to get to Leighton Buzzard. Leighton Buzzard is the default location for all unless otherwise arranged.

I shall do my utmost to fulfil as many requests as possible. However, please be aware that there are some limitations to the range of services that I can provide when away from home. For example, some upgrades require parts that I won't have the space to transport. Some parts may be out of stock or unavailable due to Brexit or the continued impact of the pandemic. I also cannot complete all upgrades at weekends, so I'd be grateful if Saturdays and Sundays were left available to those with no alternative. The final limitation is that there's only one of me, for which many are surely much relieved!

At the bottom of this message, I have tagged many club members who have made contact with me in recent months who may appreciate my greater proximity. However, this is not an exhaustive or exclusive list; my services are open to all who are able to meet me.

For those who are unfamiliar with my services, an overview can be seen here:

Kind regards,

Tom

Hi Tom, hope all is going well..... a big yes please from me, i can go to either LB or Horsham as can be flexible. Ideally a Friday, a Saturday or a Monday would suit me if you are able to book me in ? Cruise control fit and possibly a colour DIS. Thanks Tom !

Hi Tom,

I know you are swamped with requests for bookings, but as I only have a short window to arrange time off could you let me know if 25th June is too late for you and I need to arrange a date earlier for my dis install?

Sent from the future

Tom, as you know I still have the rear electric window fault on my daughters A2, but it does not have an MOT or insurance, so I cannot get it to LB :(

Hi Tom - I'll need a diary slot in LB to repair the thin co-ax radio antenna cable & yellow plug that connect the HU and the diversity unit (?) as we discussed? At my last visit up north you briefly checked the OSS that stopped a few cm short and did not open all the way - not sure what would be required (parts & time) to sort this too? I'm still looking for a suitable tow bar, so not yet committed for the installation yet!

Hello folks,

Many thanks for all the messages, both here and via PM, and thanks also for your patience in awaiting my response.
A friend of mine died during the first national lockdown, and there has been much discussion about suitable dates for a memorial event. I had to let those conversations play out before I could continue to plan this A2 Tour. It seems that this memorial will happen on Sat 26th and Sun 27th June, though that's to be confirmed by others. Until I know for sure, I shan't be booking any jobs for these dates.

The Schedule
I've decided to include the provisional schedule in the opening post of this thread, such that everyone can see the timetable as it stands.

I'll be spending today sending PMs to make firm arrangements with as many club members as time allows.

As I'm sure many of you can imagine, organising the schedule for these trips can be complicated, as I have to take everybody's requirements and availability into account in order to draw up a schedule that works for everyone. I'll do my very best to get a schedule cast in stone as soon as possible, though I'm reliant upon decisions from many.

Colour DIS
Unfortunately, my stocks of Colour DIS instrument clusters are limited, and I fear I've had more requests than I can satisfy. In the interests of fairness, I intend to prioritise those club members who asked first. However, it may be that some members are happy to forego this upgrade until the next opportunity presents itself.
Member Gangitano85 is permanently taking their A2 to Sicily, meaning a future opportunity is either unlikely or logistically challenging.

I currently have 10 Colour DIS instrument clusters in stock. They are currently assigned as follows...

1. Danny (not part of this tour)
2. Sam (not part of this tour)
3. Joss (not part of this tour)
4. @dj_efk
5. @jaffa_jim
6. @devans
7. @Cenick
8. @gmmcd
9. SPARE @thejohn
10. SPARE @gangitano85

So, I have two Colour DIS clusters that have not yet been assigned, and have had enquires from the following members about installing this upgrade as part of this tour...

@Nyakempanyo
@KleineWunder
@genovese

I obviously can't install 2 clusters in 5 cars, so I'm looking for your collective help to resolve the matter. @KleineWunder, your message above suggests that you're not yet committed to having Colour DIS installed. Is that correct?

Cheers,

Tom

Sorry to hear about your loss.

Can you include me as discussed please Tom? I'm fairly flexible on dates, so let me know. Cheers as always for organising this.

I Tom. I’d hoped to be on the list for colour DIS, RNSE installation and MFSW install though I’m July. It can obviously be earlier if need be.

Hi Erling,

Worry not; more stocks of Colour DIS should have arrived by then, and our arrangement is outside of this trip to Leighton Buzzard. :)

Cheers,

Tom
