Bad news - I think that I need a new DMF

James, the moderator of one of the FB A2 groups has sourced genuine LUK DMF and clutch kits for a seriously good price - around £320 delivered I believe.

I can share details if needed.

Alternatively there was a recent thread on a SMF conversion done to a TDi90 using a 75 flywheel - that could be an alternative route that would be cheaper.

Thanks Sir, that would be good re the FB group. As I'm upping the power I'm not sure that going SMF is the way but thanks for that info.
 
I paid 320 about a year ago for mine off ebay, genuine LUK assembly one but it is sketchy on ebay with car parts... whole assembly DMF+clutch.

it isn't too bad of a job if you have the tools to be honest (and know what you're doing!), I had no luck massaging it back in place without an engine jack, and getting it off was a pain as clutch plate had broken off the assembly and slid over it, about 3 hours of yanking at it to get gearbox off! Ended up saving about 500 ish quid labor at local independent and have tools to do the job myself now. (quoted 970£ with the clutch included, but no mention of release bearing/fork bit etc. which would have needed doing as it was knackered!).
 
She is amazing,
Audi in Worthing on Friday quoted me 10 hours labour @ £120 + VAT per hour plus £450 in parts to do the same.
She managed it in 2 half an hour sessions ,Ha Ha Ha
I wonder if she would like a job in Horsham.
10 hours where have they generated that time from? Imagine autodata will be 4 hours tops! Bet the tech who gets the job wouldn't get anywhere near 10 hours (hypothetically speaking)
 
Does anyone have access to know the book time on this job. Would be interesting to know.

Do you have the link for this conversion to SMF, I saw the tread & the member is in salisbury I belive, but can not find it now.

He definitely said 10 hours labour upon calling back to quote & for sure £450 for parts, but no further explanation, though I asked him would it be cheaper to convert to SMF to which He replied the labour cost be the same, but slightly less for the parts, however from past experiance , they once quoted me 1 1/2 hours to replace an oil filler pipe on tdi 75, It took me 20 minutes to do the job.

Its my tdi 90 that the clutch needs replacing, Reg no GR53 JLO only done 90 k miles,
 
I think there are experiance members who have done the conversion to SMF, it would be a good idea to offer the service to everyone at a price, for example at my work shop that has all the facility, I would be the first to happily pay for this service & others near by, can also use the facility/expertise at a reduced price to the main dealer.
Other jobs like cambelt kit as well.

Thought A/C may have added a bit but no mention.

Could Audi have accidentally added the clutch time plus the flywheel time making 9.2 hours? (No extra time for changing flywheel as the clutch kit and bearing is also 4.6 hours)

Just been told by my usual guy that every parts place he goes to says my car *I'm special* requires a different part and it's not a DMF but something different! Now this isn't my guy's fault, used him for 20 years and he's great, but someone clearly doesn't understand the parts list, I'll get the part number from the thread here for the whole shooting match and pass this on. PS this is for a LUK or equivalent part.
 

I had added all the bits I needed, hope that helps. would say the fork is not worth replacing, the bolt with a plastic nub that fork rests against is probably not worth doing either as mine was excellent after 150k miles and no sign of clutch/DMF ever being done.

For what it's worth; I managed to remove/install the gearbox without taking off the front of the car, and therefore airconditioning system remained as is, so no need to refill or other.

Did you have the use of a lift or did you lift on axle stands?
