Wow someone has put some serious time and money into that one, not my choice of colour but it's certainly a bit of a twist.

No don't do it, you'd have nothing to do to it yourself and you'd end up selling it on. It's different and a bit marmite but it's already done, I'd avoid it myself but that's me.

Sounds a bag of spanners to me, nice wheel trims though.

Twitter - search for Bonneville A2 ?

Buy it and then.....

Drop it on to an IL5T platform (engine, box, diff + full rolling front and rear subframes) - It has been done with the Golf several times
Add a bigger turbo, injectors, fuel pump & 3Bar MAP sensor (£1000)
Keep the mapping under 650nM torques
Add methanol spray for the IC
(No need to worry about brakes)

....and you might be close to 200MPH with the drag coefficient of an A2. Trust me, the above hardware in a body with the aero of a brick compared to the A2 will max out in 6th (Bruntingthorpe) and there are IL5Ts with 600BHP doing 10sec 1/4s - imagine that with an aluminium shell at the traffic light GP.

As cute as the A2 is and however unnecessary big engines and high speeds are, eventually someone will do this and that quite literally looks like the best donor vehicle.

Cheers
Simon
(Who has clearly not fully grown up even though he drives the A2 more than the S2)

P.S. The original A2 (the one that the original Stig won the WRC with in 1984) weighed the same as this A2 (1000-1100Kg), did 0-60 in around 4.2 seconds and topped out at 150MPH (limited by gearing) on only 365BHP.

Come on - you have to be even more tempted now......

Or are we barking up the wrong tree? Does the above mean that we (you) should we be making a rally A2? Or indeed, with that rear wing, maybe a Pikes Peak A2? - In which case, you might need brakes after all, oh and some suspension.

Cheers
Simon

you really should join us next winter if I manage to make track happen again...

Just found this thread, this is my Audi A2, which was done completely for a laugh.

I had a £600 leggy 1.4 TDI and nothing ready for the Goodwood show, so I gave it an aerosol paint job, had some stickers made up, bought some cheap coilovers and got the moondiscs from eBay USA. I still have them if someone want them (and the Skoda steelies with hardly used tyres).

Its got 220k on the clock and the 30pot burns oil, so it's been parked down the side of my barn since the show in 2021. I might do something else with it, or I might cut the side off any mount it on the wall of the barn.

Now don’t go saying things like that because that’s the kid of stupid stuff I end up buying.
