Dog bone mount

Ok, so here’s a side by side comparison on the FSI (top) and TDI (bottom) dogbone mount.

Overall length appears to be the same, but the FSI body is made of a far thinner metal. I would think you could fit the TDI one to an FSI without too many issues ?

Is the ‘bracket’ that needs swapped from the polo one the bit on the left I take it? Renewing the bit on the right?

That is correct did mine not long ago and it's well easy!

Cool seeing the difference between the two though, extra torque is no joke i guess.

Visually tdi or fsi looks the almost the same and will fit but it is different rubber composition - harder/softer depending on engine. So you should look for dogbone for engine which is closest to the engine you have. Wrong dogbone can be too loose or too hard and you will feel it when driving.

Or possibly FEBI 108779, which is the dogbone for Skoda Fabia I 2000-2007 1.4 TDI.
I see the OEN numbers are almost identical.
I replaced the org. BHC engine support 8Z0 199 851 AA with Febi 31083 - 6Q0 199 851 AA.

BHC+ ATL: 8Z0 199 851 AA
AMF : 8Z0 199 851 H
ANY+AUA +BBY+BAD: 8Z0 199 851 J, R, S and K

Febi 31113 covers suff. AG and AQ and Febi 108779 cover AR.

It is TDI version from polo. 6Q0 199 851 AQ (Febi 31113).
Thanks @Vic - I just ordered exactly this part to replace Akoya as the engine feels slightly "looser" when starting or accelerating. Hoping this will be a cheap (GBP 33 delivered) fix.

I'm thinking of ordering one of these just now just in case I need it sometime in the future as our late 2003 amf tdi is on the original (as it is most parts) and just wanted confirmation that it's definitely the febi 31113 that I should order?

To be honest I don't really like the idea of not fitting the original 8Z A2 part but from what I understand these are not available and this fabia one is the same? ?

It is a perfect fit and you will notice a big improvement over an original part now even if there isn’t a problem as such.

Febi tend to make pretty good aftermarket parts for VAG cars

Perfect.

I ordered one last night so that's good to know thanks ?

It wasn't the brand I was concerned about it was the fact that it wasn't an 8Z A2 part and for another car, as I believe Febi does make a lot of OE parts

@A2Z

Yet another post on the FB forums asking for easily-found info from these hallowed forums made me revisit this thread - how did you get on?

Embarrassed to say I haven't got around to fitting it yet, too many other projects and work to do I'm afraid.

Am planning to fit it when I change the oil soon so will let you know then 👍

Will this part fit our 1.4 petrol models?
yes. I've used a Febi Polo part as above on our 1.4 to replace the very clunky original. As stated above as well, if otherwise not available the diesel part will also fit the petrol-engined cars, but has a denser bushing so noise-vibration-harshness may be slightly affected, but holding the transmission in place properly compared to a knackered bush probably much more beneficial whichever new part is fitted.

One thing worth noting - as you can see on the @A2Steve diesel vs petrol images above, the central hole on the bushed end is asymmetrical ; larger diameter at the side that is the bottom (ie this part of the dogbone is supposed to be fitted one way up only) than it is the top. The cognate bolt has a neck below the threaded area, so will only insert through the wider hole. I've had two mechanics call me to say the bush didn't fit when they assumed it was completely symmetrical and put it in the wrong way up, finding that the brand new bolt wouldn't then go in. This is true for both petrol and diesel-engined versions, and flipping it inadvertently happens very easily when swapping the gearbox end pressed metal piece over if you don't know this already.

Hi H-M3,
If it helps, I bought the one below from a Skoda franchise for my 1.4 BBY, it's for a 1.4 Fabia ... you only need to swap the bracket over, no issues with it during the last 2K miles.
