Any A2 specialists left?

Interesting, the PTW box in Audrey has noticeably taller gears 1-4 than the other six speed boxes and 30 mph is 1800 rpm in 3rd which is great. I don’t change to 4th until I’m up to around 37-40 mph as otherwise the revs drop to 1600 rpm or below and I worry about the DMF even at very light / cruising throttle at that point or below.

I can compare better when I get Akoya - which has a MYP fitted - home later this month. I will report in the MYP thread.
I've got a PTW with a BHC engine ; 6th is really for motorway use but the lower ratios are eminently usable in town. Maybe it also depends on our commuting routes (and lack of DMF) - I can tootle into town on the main road in 4th or even 5th at 30mph in cruise control without it noticeably chugging, but this is in specific stretches in light traffic where the gradient is such that this is possible. Elsewhere with uphill stretches I would do the same in 3rd. Then again this particular engine with a particular "fight club" remap on it has always felt pretty strong, and the gearing of the PTW suits the torque delivery perfectly, perhaps even better than the same engine with the previous 5-speed.

Oh I can change up to 4th earlier and it wouldn’t complain, I just choose not to - it also struggles to accelerate smartly at very low rpms too.

Just reporting back. Had the MYP gearbox fitted at WOM this week. As others have mentioned, the throw is shorter, and it’s a bit notchy, but the ratios seem to suit the TDi90 well and I’m very pleased with it. Hard to tell yet as my trip home was in awful traffic on the M6, so not many opportunities to stretch its legs, but it seems very relaxed at speed. 70 in top is about the same revs as 60 was previously with the old box (which already had longer legs than the 75 box).

And delighted to have found WOM. Rob and Marcus couldn’t have been more helpful, as well as the ‘box, they serviced and MOT’d the car, replacing the (shot) pressed steel wishbones with the cast units, and also replacing the front scuttle after the merest of mentions from me. Marcus also fixed an irritating rattle in the driver’s door, without being asked. I’d lived with it for years as I’d assumed these sort of things were a pain to track down (=££) so hadn’t even mentioned it. SO nice to drive a rattle-free car again!

I just drove my 90 , EGR delete and map, to Aberdeen after Rob and Marcus fitted an MYP, clutch and DMF, front wheel bearing, Timmus intercooler and silicone hoses and a few more bits and pieces.
1-5 seem pretty much as before and 6 definitely a cruising gear for 60plus. Much quieter and more relaxed at speed. I was surprised at the difference the Depronman EGR made on its own, thanks Paul.
Now looking for an inlet decoke as the old EGR had about 4-5mm thick coating on it. The rest of the inlet system must be similar!
Great job! Thank you everyone!

What was causing the rattle?

Hi George I have an egr delete from paul, for my 90 just wondering if you fitted the egr valve yourself or had garage do it? I couldn't get mine off as the egr pipe itself blocked the lower bolt of the valve....

Hi, you need to cut the short leg of an Allen key to get that bolt. Hope that helps!

This is what I got from Paul.
Top tip for fitting the EGR, cut the short leg of a 6mm Allen key down to 10mm long as you then gain access to the two lower bolts
Top three bolt use a long series 5mm Allen key

If you have all of the cap screws slack slack can you not move the EGR and pipe to give enough space to get that screw out?

No, the pipe is rock solid for me, its a solid pipe to the egr cooler so has no play i could discern
Sorry I didn’t have the same issue. When the screws were loose I could shoogle the EGR and give a bit more clearance.
Maybe someone else could help.
