Today I.....

Is it an expensive repair? AMF has no egr cooler so must be head gasket at fault if test is positive
test was positive. but it took quite a while to change the blue liquid to green/yellow. must be very small leak from cylinder to coolant. The system keeps building up pressure which it holds for days. not sure of total cost but its not going to be cheap :(

Today, I rescued yet another A21.4 tdi with 114k miles, on the clock for a lovely lady I met by accident in Worthing, from the scrapyard.
The car drove fantastic, Audi had quoted £3000 to repair the damge. ( She had hit a bullard not claimed from insurance )
With thanks to @Proghound for supplying the door & @RS11SMS for the Sill, 1/2 liter of paint & sundries etc for the rear door & wing 8 hours solid work.
Job done, with less than a quarter of Audi price, She was extatic as She has had the car for seven years & didn,t want to part with it.
So tired, but so happy :) :)

So glad it worked out ??

Today I sold my beloved 1.6FSI Colour Storm. Took five minutts from I posted the advert, until it was sold. I needed 5 seats, and they rarely come up for sale in Norway, never seen a Colour Storm for sale with 5 seats, at least not in Norway. Good thing is that it went to a good home as the new owner had 3 A2´s.
New car is a Cactus, same hp, weight around 1000kg, and at least, its bonnet are made of aluminium.

Sorry to see you go. I can see the appeal of the cactus, its design is a bit 'out-there' just like the A2.

The A2 looks big! Good luck and maybe one day return to A2 ownership again...

I will certinly return to another A2 in the future, maybe as a third car. The car then shall be a Papaya Orange A2 Colour Storm 1.6FSI S-line with Open Sky, sportseats (black leather/alcantara) double DIN, electric windows front and rear, navigation, Bose, and optional cupholders back.

Ps, the A2 looks big, but the Cactus has a remarkable packaging, so it actually feels like a bigger car.

Ah the holy grail yes you be some time then

Mine also passed, 197,600 miles
Haven’t collected it yet as i had to go to work but I’m curious about smoke test results as it has been de-catted.

Will make zero difference to the smoke test results
Smoke test is measuring particulate matter
CAT does nothing either way for particulate matter where as a ecu tweak will do wonders for it, mine was 0.18 last not against limits of 0 to 3.0

Cheers. Paul

Today I drove my A2 for the fist time in 2 weeks to the MOT station and back. Pleased to report a pass with no advisories. What a amazing car I have only driven 2,225 miles since the last MOT. (note to self get out there and drive it!)

Today I noticed the front passenger headrest was round the wrong way but I just couldn't pull it out with one hand whilst depressing the latch - must be getting weak in my old age and all this Covid hibernation! So I needed a 3rd hand:

A partly reclined seat help me to pull it whilst sitting in the back.

Today, I removed an OSS from a car in 3 hours, Dont know if that is good time or bad, I had a couple of tips from Forum OSS experts @Kleynie , Thanks Ian.
Now the question is as some say fitting is the reverse of removal:D Often not  only I have to remove a faulty one from another car first prior to fitting the working one, I think I may have to wait till Ian & Adam have time.

I can remove one in about 25 minutes, but that’s using a impact gun and being on a breaker where ancillaries can be cut through ?

Steve:
My first time & minimal tools & didnt damage even one clip on the headliner, blinds or OSS not a scratch on the car.
during the 3 hours also helped Roger taking other bits off the car, had 2 coffees/fag breaks, called a friend for advice etc etc
Anyway will time myself next time without breaks etc:)
