Central Locking gone mad??

Hi All,

Hope someone can help. I have been having issues with the remote locking on my A2 for a while. Tried new batteries and both keys. If the car has been sat for a little I have to manually unlock the car. Once it has warmed up the keys work intermittently for remote unlocking. I initially thought this was a key issue, but last week once unlocking the car and sat in it (both manually or remote) the car would lock if I hadn't put the key in the ignition. Just like it would if you unlock it and don't open the door, but I have. So I'm now starting to wonder if it's something a bit deeper in the car?

Any pointers towards a fix would be greatly appreciated! ☺️

Evening,

Like many members will say, get a scan done to confirm what might be going on, trying to understand what might be your issue without a scan is just a best guess. If you don’t have access to VCDS then check out the Free Scan Register to see who is nearest to you to assist.

As for my best guess, also keep watching the Market Forum for a potential replacement CCCU.

Kind regards,

Tom

Do the interior lights illuminate when the drivers door is opened & illuminate the doors on the dash graphic (DIS) also does the fuel cap release illuminate on the drivers door pillar, there is a common failure on the drivers door control module that requires the soldered joints to be reflowed.
Hope that’s some help.
Keith.

Keith the door open microswitch is NOT the same issue as the reflow solder microswitches. Door open microswitch is external.

yes, the lights do come on when I open the doors, but the fuel switch stopped working in the summer and I haven't got round to replacing it. I will have a look into that though, thank you!

When you drive the car do the locks cycle? A VCDS scan that states lock wont safe / desafe intermittent is a door lock that either needs the INTERNAL microswitches reflowing or the lock assembly replacing.

For the sake of an old windows XP-10 laptop with a USB port and a KKL cable from ebay and the free VCDS Lite downloaded from Ross-tech you can scan the car yourself and post the results here.....
