Sound bitesI think we should accept differences between CO2, NOx, and particulates. ULEZ is about local air pollution, which is a health risk, by NOx. Diesel demonisation is about particulates, again a local health risk
CO2 is about global warming, a global risk to mankind.

I really can't see TFL's ULEZ scheme being a revenue earner.Sound bites
It is all about the money, quote “He needs the money for TfL, he has said so. TfL is bankrupt! He tried to reduce staffing - they went on strike.
Local health risk….. M8 runs through the centre of Glasgow, enough said.
I agree something has to be done… air is much cleaner here in Ayrshire than London however, if they really wanted to be exact they would target all pollutants. Did we say gas boilers are being phased out in new builds in 2025, you can keep current boiler I guess until they stop making them and they do affect local pollution levels (fossil fuel). What then
Cycle everywhere, long johns in winter due to electricity being rationed because system is being overloaded. Have a look at the new energy bill to see what lies ahead
TfL has a debt in excess of £13b, some of this is attributed to losses incurred during covid19. Government cannot afford to bail them out. Fare increases and wage increases do not balance the books. Parking in London is a nightmare whereas even home owners cannot park outside homes. So something had to be done. He went about it the wrong way….. he needed to get everyone on board as opposed to annoying road commuters. The running costs will just add to the debt. He will partially achieve some of his goal by ridding London of 100,000 cars. He would have had a better chance if he incremented the cost ie year1 £5, year2 £10 year3 £15 etc would have given people a better chance/choice to upgrade cars or or pay the fee. Glasgow went straight for fines. Give it 10 years and only electric vehicles will be allowed inI really can't see TFL's ULEZ scheme being a revenue earner.
Anyone resident in the ULEZ zone, with a non compliant private car , is not likely to be able to afford £12.50 a day to drive it.
Ignoring the scheme's set up costs, (many millions), running the scheme will soak up any revenue, and then some.
It's those owners of non compliant cars that are left with a car they can't use, that has lost any value it had. Not sales value, but as a means of transport lost.

Probably need to make a representation don’t you? A bit of a faff though it may be, such errors need to be pointed out.I recently received this from Bristol but am undecided about what to do with it. I do own YE04XTR but the number plate is clearly VE04XTR… I’m inclined to let it run its course
Yes, make the "formal representation" as described.Probably need to make a representation don’t you? A bit of a faff though it may be, such errors need to be pointed out.
Great Idea but at £3 a litre it might be cheaper to pay the ULEZ!!If we want to follow the science, then small and light (Lets see an A2 perhaps). For those diesels there's a nice easy way to dramatically lower particulates and carbon footprint besides
How did they get this to you if they've picked up the number plate wrong then @George Hogg ?
The PCN is made out to the correct number plate so assuming the camera's ANPR got it wrong then it was manually checked / corrected? I'm confused
Classic data entry error exasperated by the quirk of both cars being A2’s I’d guess? How did they get this to you if they've picked up the number plate wrong then @George Hogg ?
The PCN is made out to the correct number plate so assuming the camera's ANPR got it wrong then it was manually checked / corrected? I'm confused
The 'V' looks more like an upside down 'A' in the picture. The placing of the black dot in the V has confused the ANPR into thinking it's a Y, hence they've retrieved George's car and details from the database instead of the actual offender.
Actually, I just checked this. VE04XTR isn't an A2, it's a Toyota Yaris - you can just make that out on the PCN photo in George's post.@George Hogg Surely the bigger coincidence/anomaly is that you DONT own the car in question given it’s an A2 though
