I already did check all that before with same result. This noise is definitely not related to the engine itself but I'm pretty sure it's clutch. It's either the dying bearing from clutch dust, springs or hopefully not bolts and rivets which holds the pressure plate. How old is your clutch or did you ever replaced it?So after giving a lot of though for the source of the rattle, I have decided to remove the oil filter and I took a very close look into it - as I guess that there would be some metal shavings there if this sound is coming from the engine.
In short words - I found nothing wrong with the filer (nothing there apart from a single long hair [for which I have no explanation]).
Took the bottom cover off and tried to find anything loose (including the driveshaft thermal cover) - but all seem to be fine, with no rattle at idle.

I did replaced both drolinks just last week both no change in noise.Had an annoying rattle on one of my tdis, similar symptoms to yours. turned out to be drop link. Worth a check.
Same I scan the car regulary with VCDS and no codes no issues whatsoever drove 100 miles yesterday no problem at all while over 2000 rpm as soo as you let go it comes. Will let you know how things changed when I swap the clutch next month when the weather get hopefully bit better around here. There is a good chance that my clutch is still the factory one ...
But aside from the rattle, it is working perfectly fine...
I will be looking forward for your feedbackSame I scan the car regulary with VCDS and no codes no issues whatsoever drove 100 miles yesterday no problem at all while over 2000 rpm as soo as you let go it comes. Yep I've got exactly the same noise in the same rev range. I'm sure will get on the bottom of it eventually. The rattle is here between 1500-1900 rpm - this is with the clutch pressed.
It’s never there above 2000 rpm and below 1400. Not there on idle …
(Just did a 2600 km trip to the Netherlands and back)

I seen other posts regarding this one - In your case this line with dumpers was broken or was is not the proper one in the car ?I had a similar noise problem but on a tdi a few years ago. It turned out to be a fuel pipe vibration. I bought a new one from Audi and WOM fitted it which cured the the problem. If i remember correctly the one fitted, which was causing the noise, had one cylindrical shaped noise suppressant "baffle" in the fuel line and the new one had two. I,m not sure if its of any help but thought it worth a mention. This fuel line runs down the left side of the engine when viewed from the front.
so, my vibration is back, will check droplinks are tight later. wondering about the fuel line possibility. did your noise disappear after a bit of driving, ie was it worst at start up / first few minutes of driving? in my case its related to engine revs, clutch in / out makes no difference. cheers nodYou are tight about the fuel pipe not being cheap. I dont know why it fixed the vibration noise but the original diagnosis was made by Stealth Racing garage in the UK.
And have you checked this fuel pipe with silencer ?Yep I've got exactly the same noise in the same rev range. I'm sure will get on the bottom of it eventually.
