Can anyone point me in the right direction of the horn on A2 tdi 2001.I have taken the engine cover off,but cannot find it.Any help would greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,Regards, Ray

It's a b****r to get to, as it nestles deep under the offside (UK) headlamp and the only real way to get to it is to remove the bumper, which means both front wheels off, both arch liners out and then bumper off.

Cheers,

Mike

The location is verry bad for any loud sound. So that is why many have changed the horn to: "Bosch Minifanfahre"
Here some nice pics:

Hi Erstens

Given what Skipton has said, do you have a quick release mechanism for your bumper? or have you found a way to remove it without the associated extra work.

Cheers

Jonathan

As I know, you must remove the inner wheel arch on the front and then you can remove the bumper. But I would have to search for the description.

What Jonathan was meaning is ' have you found a way of removing the bumper without taking off the wheels and arch liners, and headlamps' they are all shown as fitted in the photos, so it looks like they were not removed.

Cheers,

Mike

anyplace in the Uk to buy the bosch fan fahre horns?
or fan fare horns

theres a set on U.S ebay in hong kong but dont fancy them incase customs nab me.

As Spike said, space is at a premium - I had a hard enough job to wire in an additional Audi horn (to give both hi- and lo-tone frequencies - as standard, only the lo-tone is fitted) and in the end, I had tofit them in the wing!

Cheers,

Mike

chubbybrown;70213nothing about horns on the bosch uk website. [/QUOTE said:
In theory any Bosch dealer can supply any Bosch parts using the appropiate part number.
Personally I'd have used the horn details off the Bosch Turkish web site and asked a UK dealer to order them.

Hello everybody,

nice to meet You - i'm new here (joined yesterday). My name is Lukasz and i'm from Poland. Since month i'm owner of Audi A2 1,4 and as You posted here, i'm also looking correct place for horn in my car. Erstens pictures were most helpful but if somebody can show where original horn (fanfare) is put i would be appreciate. Original cable shows that original horn is located right side of the engine chamber... but where exactly??. Thanks in advance for any infos.

Horn clips

Hi Chubbybrown, what kind of clips did you get to fit for your horns? ..If Audi, do you have a part number?

Just found an old pic of the horn location on my 2001 RHD tdi. Thought i'd post it for future reference.

Cheers Spike

you don't have to take the bumper off!
you can take the fog light and headlight out and reach up and unclip the horn connector and feed the wire up through the space behind the headlight. you can mount the horn in the space behind the other side headlight and run a wire across the front panel.
worked for me!

Have any easier ways been found yet. Original Horn on our 2003 ( 53 ) 1.4 SE Petrol has gone very quiet and the MOT Test is coming up. It’s done this before after lack of use but usually always came right again after a couple of Toots. Not today but it has had even less use than ever since mid March !
