1.4 tdi AMF failure to start after new loom f

I’ve recently fitted a new injector loom & rocker cover/gasket to the engine , it failed to start so I put the vacuum pump on the return fuel line & pulled fuel through just in case but to no avail.
Completed a VCDS scan with nothing obvious, battery fully charged etc.
Any ideas before I have to remove rocker cover etc again?
Thanks
Keith.

Try pulling fuel on the inlet. I don't see the point of doing it on the return.

Hi Rab,
I pulled from the pump return side to pull through inlet & out of return connection with tank line disconnected but will try inlet later if you think it may be the cause .
Thanks
Keith.

Disconnet the inlet at the pump, pump through until you get fuel coming through, switch off the your pump and clamp the pipe before reconnecting to tandem pump.

Curious to know why the tandem had to be disconnected when you were only replacing the injector loom. Assuming that the three injectors connections were clean and tight and the loom connected to the car harness correctly and fully locked in position. Then the car should have immediately started. What was the reason for replacing the injector loom?
As for pulling the fuel up from the tank I have used vacuum on both the inlet and return pipes ( not at the same time ) and prefer to vacuum the return line then clamp the still attached supply line once the fuel is up before removing the vacuum and reconnecting the return hose.

Hi Audifan,
Intermittently running on 2 cylinders this winter on start up, was in there changing the rocker cover & gasket to rectify an oil leak so took the opportunity to replace the loom , but I was just trying to cover failed starting.
Thanks
Keith.

Glow system working correctly and plugs not too old? Is the car now running correctly at all engine speeds / loads?

Hi Audifan,
Fitted new glow plugs from Darkside developments first , it’s running nicely & revs freely but unable to road test as currently blocked in by our touring caravan, so will road test tomorrow & see then back to commute run on Monday AM.
Thanks
Keith.
