1.4tdi AMF boost loss

Hi,
I have recently acquired a 2001 A2 1.4 TDi which I believe is the AMF engine?
On a couple of occasions I have lost boost while driving. I think both occasions I was going uphill in 4th gear, and pushing on towards 3k rpm.
A quick cycle on the ignition and all is well again.
I have read a couple of posts regarding the N75 solenoid, and to check the pipes going to this.
Is there anything else I should be looking out for that could also cause this?
There is no EML coming on when it happens.
Thanks, Tom.

Evening Tom,

amf will be present on the cam cover sticker if you want to be sure. Highly likely yes it's an amf.

Check for an air leak y looking at the pipe into the intercooler lower connection. Looking for oily marks and any sign of rubber seal. Sounds like the air leak is happening under heavy boosting so likely very small not obious leak.

Hard to check the small pipes from n75 to Turbo, may as well replace them with new 4mm silicone tube to check one by one.

You can use vacuum puller to check if you have one as you won't see a small crack and that's all it takes.

The turbo isn't variable so it's either working or not. The wastegate control could be stiff and allowing over boosting also mind.again vacuum pull will check its movement maybe spray something on the linkages.

P1556 I think is pressure loss code on scanning with vcds.

Good luck

I'd second looking for air leaks in the pipes to the intercooler and the intercooler itself. I had very similar symptoms when the bottom of the intercooler started to split from the matrix. I was able to see the split by shining a torch down the back of the intercooler.
