1.6 FSi power loss

I have a 2002 A2 1.6 FSi which sometimes looses power at about 60mph. Has anyone had a similar problem and found a fix?

Ah your not the first or the last to ask this. The simple answer is are you running it on premium unleaded ? i have found tesco momentium the best, it is mainly caused by the revs at 60 in 5th are just under 3k the point the ecu switches between lean running and normal direct injection. Fill up with momentium and give it an italian tune up(use the full rev range and throttle)
hope this helps mike

Sorry for delay replying. I'll try your suggestion. Is it likely to be anything else more serious? Bought the car recently for my son. Just a bit worried now that it's a lemon.

Try that first - it's usually nothing more than that. The FSis really do prefer a diet of high octane, and the Tesco momentum is 99Octane, which is as good as it gets.

Hello, mine did that, and yes upgrading the fuel has resolved the issue - until I had to put the other in - then you notice the difference again!

I use PetrolPrices.com on my phone which shows the cheapest petrol/diesel within XX miles - that helps with the price a bit.

Take care,

Rebecca.
