1.6fsi A couple of fault codes

Ok ill look on 7zap at pictures/ parts and have a look in the manual. As I've said I'm trying to amass info so I know where to start.
I think you have your answer from Evripidis, doable but fiddly and awkward. Scant mention in the workshop guide except remove and put back with a couple of torque figures and no doubt renew seals. I can help a little with the location, looking up at the back of the engine look for the holed bracket that supports the upper inlet manifold and it is just to the right.

I am sure how the oil separator (called pressure control valve in workshop guide) is for servicing, I.e open it up and clean, suspect largely a sealed unit, but I do remember a member repaired the membrane and it cured their problems so this must be accessible. Dread to think of the cost of a new oil separator and be careful not to break the clips on the hoses or that will be more expense.

Please do post how you get on and the part number if you would as I am

Can you tell me the cylinder numbers from cam shaft end across please. I've bought new bosch plugs and a bosch pencil coil. Still have a misfire on cylinder 4 . Also need to find the earth point behind the headlamp. I took the lamp out yesterday but couldn't identify it. Thanks

Number 1 is the one closest to the cambelt if I am not mistaken. I haven't got a picture of the earth point but someone will provide one after me I am sure as it comes up quite often.

Ok, so number 4 cylinder coil and all plugs replaced. Genuine Bosch coil and bosch plugs. Found and cleaned up passenger side earth point and checked for continuity between engine block coil earth and chassis earth, all ok. Took it for a drive and now have these after clearing first scan

Strangely the lambda and nox faults have disappeared. Just done a quick scan with torque and only the fuel pressure sensor and cylinder 4 misfire are coming up. Have done about fifty miles since filling up on Thursday and blasting it down the M4 from newport to Magor and back twice yesterday afternoon.

Other than the VCDS report, are you aware of a miss fire when driving, or does it feel fine?
Mac.

So, New plugs and coil on saturday and cleaned earth behind headlamp. Car starting better now and no lumpy idle and misfiring at start tup. Front lambda and fuel pressure regulator replaced yesterday. Car felt ok and still starting ok. went out this afternoon and startup was a bit lumpy again. Quick Scan reveals below

In the air leak hunt check the seals and tube of the dipstick and the seal of the oil filler cap on top of the engine.

Andy

Where do I start with that. Do I check all pipes upto and going into the inlet manifold. I've been looking at this thread
Post in thread 'Fault codes 16804, 17560, 17912' https://www.a2oc.net/community/index.php?threads/fault-codes-16804-17560-17912.9738/post-79665 towards the end. I'm presuming that it's a vacuum pipe going into the inlet manifold from the oil separator or brake vacuum.
I would not get too hung up on this post, I've read it and I am now confused by the description of the location of his mystery pipe. He specifically states it is connected to the LOWER manifold yet if you look at the lower manifold there is no pipe. A2Steve conveniently posted a picture this morning of a lower manifold that confirms this.

The only pipe you see, that has had an altercation with Steve's secateurs, comes from the fuel pressure regulating valve on the fuel rail that wanders off a short distance to the fuel pressure regulator.

I think you are possibly correct and his mystery pipe is from the oil separator and connects to the UPPER manifold and then his post makes sense. It is true as he says the pipe is not on the main input manifold schematic,

But is shown on the CPV schematic, item 28

I remember B4Andra had a leak on this pipe as well.

Sorry to ramble on.

Don't forget to replace the small vacuum hoses, for example 39, 40, 41. Mine looked all right but had collapsed entirely! They don't have to be original, you can use aftermarket and possibly better quality hose.

Ok, thanks. I've got a used Nox coming from A2Steve. I think I'm going to get a fuel pressure sensor too. Fuel regulator has been replaced but start up has got erratic again. Will try and look at the hoses on the weekend.
