Hi all,

I ordered a crankcase sensor for the 1.6FSI BAD engine, but I don’t know where it goes and cannot see anything resembling what I got.

Can anyone tell me if it’s the correct part and where it goes please?

Believe the sensor is shown on this manual page although not clear.

Hi,

I had a very quick look on my FSI at the location indicated above but could not see it, too much stuff in the way and I did not have a mirror to hand.

There seems very little around on this, the best I could find does not auger well, read the third short post by someone who appears knowledgable.

If you do the work yourself lots a pictures please and a 'How To' would be great.

I think I may be wrong that it needs to be done from underneath and it’s a by touch job, and I seem to remember there is a rubber cover, could be wrong.

Looking again at the manual picture of the sensor in the link I posted, I suspect the last picture is upside down but do not have an FSI to confirm. Perhaps one of our breakers may be able to say exactly where the sensor is located or even better take a clear picture of it on a breaker.

Thanks all, I did have a good look around from above and below the engine but couldn’t find it.
I think I’ll leave it for WOM

WOM will do it with their eyes shut, but in short I seem to recall it being at the back of the engine by the gear box, there is a rubber cover on it and then I think it's a 5mm allan key holding it in place...it certainly is a 'by feel' job, but the locating lug makes it really easy to replace.

Curiosity and not wanting to be beaten, opened up some more of my full depth pit ( :)) to gain a better vantage point.

Clear as day, picture may be use to someone in the future.

The bracket with the triangular hole is the underneath support for the input manifold.

No problem getting fingers on the rubber cover which I did not remove, so don't know about removing the retaining bolt.

I would not like to do this job without my pit.

Thank you Andy!

Explains why I couldn’t see anything like what the actually sensor looks like.

The car is still on axle stands so I’ll take another look
