1.6FSI Storm misfire update

Bit of an update on my misfire history.

Bought bumblebee with a known misfire issue and a few minor jobs needed like droplinks and rear discs/ pads, but off a trusted friend and too cheap to not get myself a lovely A2 Storm. Also has fully stamped book and all receipts ?????

Day of collection. EML on and idle very rough and running on three cylinders.... Very burbely and fluttering through all revs and wouldn't pull well. PO gave pre Mot inspection report and a note from auto electrician after an inspection saying no2 cylinder injector?

Got car home. Petrol warning light was on so filled up with Tesco SU and threw in a full bottle of redex to freshen up fuel system as knew fuel was mainly bought as regular unleaded.

Fault code said P0302 cylinder 2 misfire. Moved coil packs around. Changed all plugs which were very sooty and it idled and revved up to sub 3k rpm okay.....

Took for a spin and as soon as revs went past 3,500 the EML started blinking.... At idle stopped flashing...... Did it again and after third repeat EML stayed on........ Only have a OBDII-CAN at minute but said same P0302 fault code...........

Now I have noticed that idle is smoother and sits at 700ish rpm, so perhaps not throttle body..... Revs cleanly up to 3k even holding revs at around 3k, so starting to rule out coil pack?????

Starting to rule out flaps as only one cylinder reporting fault, but need to check for damage to actuator etc externally as a sense check.........

So perhaps injector 2 is either faulty or affected by deposits??? Perhaps the SU fuel and an injector cleaner will do enough and then always SU fuel or Shell Nitro will keep it clean??

Just sharing this in case it helps other with symptoms or their experiences and solutions.......

Love the car to bits though and so happy to be part of this great group......

The injector sounds the most likely cause, but don’t rule out fuel starvation (either fuel pump) if that doesn’t remedy it.

I’m going by symptoms rather than what the code reader is telling you.
I'll bow to your vast greater knowledge, but always thank you for contributing to my new to A2 questions.

PS......
The handbrake cover, chrome button and correct boot air compressor look much better, so thank you.... No doubts more requests to follow under marketplace ???

Gosh I’m no mechanic just ok with a spanner. I’m just talking from past experience with poorly FSI’s.

Glad you are happy with the bits.
