Just this last minute test drove the new 1.6fsi, and... found the car a bit slugish, jumped straight back into the 1.4tdi and it seemed much more responsive, the 1.6 needs to be pushed really hard to get anything back, the car had only done 500 miles so it might loosen up!! Let me know what anyone else thinks?

Found that my A2 had been using 90 RON unleaded, I have now put a full tank of 98RON in and there is a difference, as the manual specifies, in perfformance. has any body fiddled with the cd radio options for automatically changing the volumr as you gain speed on the motorway? Sorry to be geeky.

Potato-congrats on the car.

Re the radio volume-I've been curious about this-the manual says it can be speed dependent, and the radio says this function is on, but the volume does not go up and down with road speed. Wonder if it not's a UK model feature?.

Re radio volmue - the feature is called Gala. Have you set it to 5? I find the effect is failry subtle but it definitely works. On 5 in mine the radio can get a bit too loud at speed - 4 seems a better setting.

Thanks for the tip I'll be trying the gala option out tonite, I'm not sure regarding the "softer and more comfortable shock absorbers" Mine's a sport version with quattro suspension, it has a harder ride, not uncomfortable though!

I will have to try the Gala thing too-don't know why it doesn't work at present. Maybe a loose connection somewhere?. Oh well.

The 1.6 FSI is set up with softer shock absorbers/suspension as standard, but if you order "sport" it's something else!

I'm not sure about the UK, but here in Norway it's not possible to order "S-line" on 1.6 FSI! :(

Why can't we that want to have a more "sportier" car also have the 1.6 FSI engine??

Hello Ken-Arild

You can order the 1.6 FSI with the S-Line equipment here in Norway !
It was opened for this on the FSI in mid August.
But it will not go in production before week 42

If any one has recently aquired an A2 1.6fsi I strongly recommend using the correct unleaded petrol 98RON the difference beetwen performance from normal unleaded is amazing. Another amazing fact is that the A2 that I test drove at the Audi dealer was using the wrong version, bad show for potential purchasers! I'm sure that the 1.6fsi that Jeremy Clarkson test drove was using the wrong petrol bad show for the write up:D

I spoke to my dealer today, and asked him when the FSI will be available in Holland. He told me it won't be sold in Holland! Audi NL seems to think there aren't enough potential buyers here. It's a shame!

The dealer lent me one of these whilst I had tyres replaced the other week. I agree with the comments that it is sluggish, but this is only at low revs, a good firm push with the right foot soon gives a bit more lift. It is the age old problem of marrying economy and sportiness, and not really achieving either. However it was more fun to drive than the TDi's that I have had previously.

Don't bother. In day to day motoring the tdi is better - and more economical.
Look out for the 1.9 tdi late in September along with the facelift.

Is that right? Late September for the 1.9 TDI? I want one.
Anyone want to buy a 1.4SE Petrol? One careful owner, 2500 miles by the end of September? No quality problems.

This 1.9TDI news is a bit of a b***er. The wife told me that on no account could I purchase another car for 4 years.

I can probably wittle her down to 3 years if I promise uncomplaining servitude for that period, but it is a long wait for a 1.9!

She goes on about a "conservatory" coming before any new Audis. God, the way women fritter money away on houses and stuff for the house really irritates me!
