16” Centre Caps

I appreciate this has been a well discussed topic and worming is common in the SE caps but does anyone reproduce them or offer a refurb service?

I did provided a refurb service at one point in time but it was a poor take up and I repurposed the tooling I made to hold the centre cap in my lathe for something else
Basically I mounted the centre cap in the lathe and used a scrapper to remove the old lacquer and worming then buffed the ally ring to a brushed steel look using scotchbrite
The applied 4 coats of clear 2K lacquer to seal the ally ring
It was quite time consuming to be honest and at £30 for a set of four I expected much better take up
I only did a set of my own and a set for timmus and one other for a member

That's a shame, sounds like a complete bargain. Having had mine for less than a week and seeing the price of a new set, I would take you up.

Same!! I’d always rather reuse than throw away and buy new. If this feed gets some traction would you consider doing a batch of them?

I’d have to say with what I have on atm no but let’s see what the interest is and go from there

My last set from Audi only lasted a year before they started deteriorating. I had intended to buy a new set again this year, so would definitely have at least one set for refurbishment if @depronman ever decided go back into the centre cap business...

Probably worth me having a set as well, with that amount of lacquer on they must surely resist the white worms better than what Audi produced from new.
That's five sets in total now, are we getting warm yet Paul? :)

One thing that would really save a lot of caps would be a solution to repair the snapped off prongs (other than clear silicon, Blue-Tac, wood-screws etc).

If only the club had a talented engineer / designer with a 3D printing machine. Sigh

?

I'd have mine done if this goes ahead. £30 is priced very well so it worth doing for sure.

I'm up for this. Just bought a set of 16s which came with a ropey set of centres. I had to butcher another old centre cap and glue in 2 replacement tabs to hold the ring. Functional but need a refurb.
