16 FSI Colour Storm Front Coil Springs

Bumblebee

Member
Dear All... It's been a while ;)

I have a clunk on front nearside when turning and going over speedhumps and the like.

Looking behind the wheel it is clear that the spring has broken :-(

I know that spec and ride heights are a factor and that some springs have different colour dots etc.

Can anyone give me a part number for the 16 FSI Colour Storm with solid roof?

'Autodoc' seems to be a good source at the minute and reasonably priced, unless there is value at using a good sense checked salvaged pair?

What do people advise suggest. I don't do massive miles in Bumblebee, but I want is safe of course, especially if I am talking washers difference in cost?

Thanks in advance ?

It will depend on the precise spec of your individual car. If either of your front springs has the coloured dots, you should be able to use those to get the correct part number.

Otherwise I'd send your registration to Crewe Audi, who'll be able to give you the correct part number.

Thanks Steve... I thought as much.
Will Crewe Audi do that for free and if so how do you go about it? Email parts department etc??

TIA

I'll also say that you need to clean and check the other front spring. If it has the coloured dots on you can simply match it when replacing the broken spring.

Unless you're keen to start again with another make of spring, or the second front spring is badly corroded, you don't need to change both springs at the same time.

Thanks Steve.... Its MOT time so one is a definite FAIL o_O

Thanks Steve

Crewe Audi came back very promptly with......

8Z0411105AK, 2 blue dots and one silver and no stock at any UK dealers......

Off to internet I guess :-0

Issue with getting from AT though. Suggest the Autodoc ones. Remember to buy 2 ( need to be at least 2 in stock ) as springs need to be matched pairs in the same way shocks need to be done in pairs.

Few brands on Autodoc.de site that I have never heard of so any comments on;

maXgear
Kilen
LESJOFORS
SUPLEX
IPSA
TRISCAN
SPIDAN
OPTIMAL

Of course SACHS, SKF and BILSTEIN are VAG household names :)

Cheers All

Early failures have been experienced with SPIDAN and I believe SUPLEX, which would put you back in the same position :(

As you can see in the chart below, 8Z0411105AJ is the weight range below 8Z0411105AK, and 8Z0411105AL is the weight range above 8Z0411105AK.

8Z0411105AJ is often recommended for the 1.4 petrol engine, so is probably too light for the 1.6 petrol.

8Z0411105AK doesn't appear to be available as an aftermarket spring.

8Z0411105AL is often recommended for the 1.6 petrol engine and 1.4 diesel engine.
