Hello all
I haven’t posted for absolutely ages on this excellent forum but as it is our A2 first registration birthday today on the 28th of September 2004 I thought I’d drop in a post.
We bought our A2 SE 90 in December 2005 and still love the car as much today as when we bought it.
Back in 2005 we paid £10,000 and what a fantastic investment for such an economical and reliable vehicle.
This month, I gave her a full service in preparation for the MOT, everything is in tiptop shape and passed the MOT with no advisories and just a compliment from the technician that did the inspection.
With only 58,000 miles on the clock, she still looks as good as new, with the added benefit of a fully working open sky sunroof 😄
I still find it really interesting how rare the A2 is on the road these days. Our other car is a Land Rover and where we may see 20 or 30 of those on a journey we rarely see another A2.
Every time I work on the car, I just love all the thought and engineering that went into the original design. I did the front brakes recently that have never been changed and every nut and bolt came and done perfectly. I think the one thing that took the most time was releasing the clip on the brake pad sensor 🧐
Here about a few pictures of our car, keep up the excellent work on this forum. It really is an interesting mine of information.

So here’s to the next 20 years ❤️❤️

Congratulations. Looks in excellent condition, especially the rear axle. Has that had any work on it?

I bought my June 2004 A2 TDi 75 SE in March 2005 from Audi Swindon and paid £11k so you did very well with OSS as well. Now done 96k miles. I agree, they are very economic cars in terms of life time costs. Basically I've only need to do service and serviceable items but now doing a full axle refurb and rebuild, mostly preventative as it's 20 years old and coming up to 100K (Front done at 60K). Perhaps a bit extravagant to many but the car now owes me nothing being completely depreciated.

Is yours Crystal Blue like mine?

I hope you can keep it for many more years to come.

Yes looks lovely and happy birthday!
Next year's the big one when it's fully grown up then? 😂
One of mine was 22 yesterday, 27th September 😊

To answer Alan_uk 's question, if I'm not mistaken it's Akoya Silver with the bluey/purpley tint to the paint?

A great investment indeed and I think you would find someone willing to pay £10k for it now in the condition it's in.

It still amazes me the quality of the little cars if they aren't ruined with cheap Chinese pattern parts and how little they cost to run, almost free motoring if they're well looked after and maintained 👍

Thank you Alan.
All original from the factory I’m pleased to say.
Our car has had the benefit of living in a garage for the last 19 years.
As A2Z correctly identified it is Akoya Silver, a lovely colour and the paint work is in wonderful condition.

Thank you A2Z
Well spotted with the paint colour.
Yes they are so well made, a joy to work on and even wash.
Agree. Always fitted OEM quality parts, look after the car and it will look after you 👍
Some low miles good condition A2’s do command a very good price because of the excellent engineering and design.

I agree, I love washing the A2 just as I did the TT I had back in 2001, both lovely and slippery and aerodynamically curvy 😊👍

What a cracker, it’s a real credit to you.
Thanks Steve.
It’s a great little car and has been soooo easy to keep in good condition throughout it’s life.
Returning an unloved A2 to this original condition would be a challenge, especially when so many were used as economical high miles work horses!

Fantastic achievement 20 years! i can't turn the clock back but i'm wishing we had one for the same length of time. Know what you mean about those pesky clips having just done same on ours. The car looks superb especially the underside thanks for sharing the pics!
