3 door A2

I love it! Looks very right to me.

Perhaps there's a project there for the Rusty Workshop. Liked the pick-up idea but that's been (and being) done.

Side glass would be quite a mission though ... also I wonder if the roof profile would be the same. I'd guess not as otherwise you're not gaining much.

Interesting that there is a photoshop image of an A2 on a towbar company website. Not seen a company do that before.

Initial commentary; shorter than a normal A2 assuming the drivers door hasn’t been lengthened, rear 3/4 light glass which is now one rear piece of glass the proportion looks surprisingly correct in relation to the aluminium surround piece, the black lower sill section looks deeper and Porsche Carrera Cup alloys (if I’m not mistaken).

Surprisingly good effort and on a company website where you really wouldn’t expect.

Here’s another one ?

I'd imagine overall length would be the same. Doors will be significantly longer than the standard: look at 3 vs 5 door Golfs: same length.

As well as the obvious structural / metal work I think the real challenges are the more discreet ones:

internal door and rear 1/4 trims
longer sill trims
modified door rubbing strips etc
door arm rests
window and lifter mech
you'd need to modify the headlining
you'd need a non side-guard car (not hard!)
opening rear 1/4 windows?
rear window surround / seals
door top and rear 1/4 trims
screen rake standard?
roof height and angle standard?

I suspect the rendering is nothing to do with the towbar co: more likely they simply did an interweb image search and by chance landed on an enthusiast's concept. Thought 'that's a nice clear image' and on it went.

Yes, it's a nice clear image but what it really says is that the front doors would need lengthening to make a three-door!

Yes, as per the Towsure rendering: look how much closer the front of the rear arch is to the back of the door.

Found another interesting A2 concept inside this article, 2 door this time.
Im sure this Audi design concept idea was copied taken into production by Citreon with their C3 Pluriel

This was probably the closest Audi came to making a 3 door A2
