3 full seatbelts on bench seat

I was looking at the German book "Meilenstein und Kultobjekt" and I notice that there's a photo of the rear bench seat with 3 full size seatbelts. Was this ever an option? mine has just a lap belt for the middle one.
Photo is on page 93 for those that have the book.

Mine has a full middle seatbelt, I'll get a picture over the weekend, I didn't know there were different types on a 3 seat rear bench.

Later cars (possibly 2004 onwards?) had the full three-point seatbelt fitted.

Could it have been an option in Europe on all A2s but not over here, I had a 2004 five seater with only the lap belt in the middle.

I suspect you'd need to swap to a later seat.

That's really unusual. Particularly when it's an upgrade safety feature. I've got the centre lap belt too in an April 2004 car but that's due to a seat upgrade. My leather is from an 02 plate car.

I have an 02 and an 05 both with their original bench seats. 02 is lap 05 is three point. I dont think it would be possible to retrofit three point to the earlier seat.
