Focussing on outdoor events, that make social distancing much easier, we are pleased to offer a weekend social that will have camping facilities available at an excellent camp site.

https://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=10725

We have sole use of the site over the weekend, so although the camp site is normally adults only, children and dogs are welcome.

We are also pleased to advise that this will be a joint social with our friends at the A2 Owners Group.

Prices

Caravan/Motorhome pitch with electric hook up - £18.50 per night (5 pitches available)

Non electric camping pitch - £15 per night (at least 10 pitches available, but could probably fit more in)

On site bed and breakfast (2 double rooms - £85 per room, per night)

(Onsite camping/accommodation may be available on Friday night also)

Day visit only - £5 per car

Off Site accommodation – There is a Travelodge and Holiday Inn at Scotch Corner about 15 minutes’ drive from the site

Things to do

There will be a large barn available for anyone who wishes to work on their car. We are aware that some members do provide services and we are happy for anyone wishing to attend and offer their services to add to this thread to let people know that they are attending and the services you provide (please note that normal club rules apply in terms of services provided and A2OC does not accept any liability for any losses or damages from the use of services provided by another member – full rules around member services can be found here)

In addition to loving our A2s. there is a huge amount to do in the area:-

  • Visit the Bowes Museum
  • Ravenseat Farm Tearoom (Location of the TV Series Our Yorkshire Farm
  • Drive around the Dales (suggested route to follow)
  • Visit to Barnard Castle (eye test optional)
We will develop a schedule of events for the weekend and hope that you will be able to join us for the weekend or even just a day.

Booking

If you would be interested in attending, please complete the RSVP above, and indicate whether you would prefer;

Caravan – electric hook up

Caravan/camping – non electric

Bed and breakfast

Car only

We will collate the preferences and then liaise directly to allocate slots. We will need to take payment in advance, but this will be refundable in the event that we have to cancel the weekend4

Just clarify the B&B rooms surely not £85 pppn, ie £170 per night for a couple. Definitely interested in a B&B room if it is £85 per room, my days of camping are long gone ??

Sorry - think it's the way I worded it. It is £85 per room. I'll try and edit it to make it read better

We'll be there for one of the days but not overnight - we're only a few miles away but anyway too old for that kind of thing.
One point - don't buy fuel from the Scotch Corner services - astronomically expensive.

Very much looking forwards to this, folks. Count me in for the full duration of the event. :)

Depending on Jessica's on-call schedule, it may just be me or it may be the two of us. One way or another, I'll pitch a tent and overnight at the campsite. I shan't require an electrical hook-up.

I'll bring a load of tools plus the Laptop of Justice. If anybody wishes for me to do some upgrades to their A2 whilst at the event, please get in touch. There are many jobs that I'll be able to do, though some may be deemed too big and thus merit an alternative, private arrangement.

Kind regards to all,

Tom

Morning Teresa,

This event is now in the family diary and really looking forward to it. We will arrive (both Susan and I along with the 2 boys) well before lunchtime on the Saturday and depart after the future planned Sunday activities. I'm hoping we will be in both A2s and not just the A6 Avant!

We will be after a camping pitch (tent), electric not essential but may come in handy if it is available.

Tom @timmus, if I win the 2x A2 battle can you upgrade the CDIS firmware in the OEM car please.

Edit: @Teresa, I can confirm that we will be arriving in both OEM and 250. Is 2 A2s ok?

Kind regards,

Tom

Absolutely Tom. The more A2s the merrier! ?

Morning @Teresa,

Looking forward to this and we have looked at what we might be able to do on the way up or on the return journey.

The Forbidden Corner was a nice place to visit from memory and we’ve not taken our boys there yet. Could this be a possible venue to spend a few hours after a scenic route to it was taken to it, about 45 minutes from the camp site but that could be extended I’m sure. It is paid admission but pretty sure the younger ones would enjoy it. Most adults would enjoy the gardens and tunnels too.

Just a thought which doesn’t have to be part of the weekend.

Kind regards

Tom

Oooh - that looks lovely. I'll have a look at how we might include it in for those who want to go. Thank you for highlighting it

Hi Teresa,

You can count me in for this one for both days but I think I'll be staying off site at a hotel or Travel lodge or something similar but I can sort that nearer the time.

Thanks,
Iain
