Did anyone see 5th Gear last night and the review of the Gold GTi DSG?
Not that I'd pay over £20k for it, but I did like the sound of the DSG gearbox. Plato did seem to hint that VW are the first to have this, wasn't it actually in an Audi first? I'm quite tempted to test drive the A3 2.0TDi DSG now. Has anyone here driven it yet?

2004 1.4 TDi (90) SE, Cobalt Blue, Climate control, Cruise control, DIS, Sport seats, Winter pack, Symphony II.

Also thought that about VW getting the credit for DSG - surely Audi got there first.

You can't take their tests seriously either. Fiat Multipla winning the group test?? What about residuals or the fact if probably won't last to it's 1st birthday without several faults occuring.

Don't drink drive! Not only is it socially unaceptable, it also harms A2's.
Was a Merlot Red 1.4SE petrol originally.
Now an Ebony Black 1.4SE petrol with Red Leather, CC, Symphony + all the previous options we had.

It's even in the Touran now.... I assumed that it would only be for the sporty cars...

Have driven a 3.2 DSG TT and the only way to describe it is INCREDIBLE.

Doesn't Maersk have an A3 2.0 TDI DSG?

Ho Ho Ho
Yes Maersk does have a 2.0 TDI DSG and it is ithe dingo's kidneys. Very nice to see a positive public dispaly in favour of the flappy paddle. Clarkson you ***. You have not yet tried the best thing to come out of the car since the two stroke engine (sic)
The 'box is sublime.

I've driven the A3 2.0 TDI DSG and the TT 3.2 DSG.
The gearbox is a revelation and not like anything else I've driven before. Essentially, it's a manual gearbox with all the benefits of an automatic.
Changes up/down are instantaneous. Can't remember if the A3 had a sport mode as did the TT but that is really addictive as the car holds onto the gears higher up the rev range. The paddle shift is like playing on any games console. The box reverts to fully auto if there is no input from the driver but can be overridden at any time if need be.
The DSG box is available in the other 'VAG family' cars but as far as I know the Golf GTI is the only one to have the paddle shift (in addition to the TT & A3), all others have the sequential shift via the gearstick.
What are you waiting for? get that test drive booked.
I'd drive the Skoda before knocking it. It's not the car it was 10 years ago and Audi dealers could learn a thing or two from Skoda about customer service. Drove an Octavia 2.0 TDI recently and all I can say is..... quality.

My sister is seriously looking to buy an A3 TDi DSG. But the poor quality sales service from Guildford Audi has put her off so far. She even went in to book a test drive, the salesman said he'd call her back to finalise a date, but never called her back! Quite something considering she could be spending £21k....when will Audi learn? Anyway, we'll find another dealer to test drive the car I hope and then I can have some fun with the car :)

I believe 'loved it' was a little, how shall we say, economical with the truth. He stated that it was the best 'flappy paddle thingy' he had yet driven and then wet quite quiet.
Hardly the best thing.................................................................................................breath.........................................................in the whole world.

But I take your point.

He may have wet quietly (especially when shown up by Sabrina the M5 Nurburgring Taxi Driver but I guess you knew I meant 'went'.
Sabrina + circuit knowledge + diesel she has never driven = Clarkson blown into the weeds.

I notice that Mr Plato (rightly) thinks itis the best gearbox he has driven.
I humbly concur. [8D]

Still 'gob smacked' by its brilliance.
