Hi dose anyone no if you can buy these new I have one just installed in my a2 what I would like take out and install in my other a2, if you can buy these new even if its a not a genuine part it would save me removing this part from my a2 as its turning out to be a bigger task then expected.

Afternoon Roger,

Not sure what you was hoping to spend on this item but could be expensive from the dealers.

If neither of our resident recyclers (@A2Steve, @Clackers) can help maybe this eBay item could.

No association what so ever but seems cheap enough.

You’ll need a pin removal tool but should be straight forward as you already have an A2 with the CD Changer fitted to give you an idea of the what Pin goes where.

EDIT: This cable is the sort of thing you can get from a breakers yard for (usually) pennies and are in quite a few Audi’s from a similar era.

Kind regards,

Tom

Thanks for the fast response I seen that item on ebay and thats what got me thinking, if you can buy the wire new as the sellers wire is described as new it would save me from removing the dash.
I have almost removed my wire all the way up to the dash, but the wire is wrapped in a sleeve with other wires so I am unable to just pull it through, therefore I will have to remove the dash to access it properly.
I was just intrigued that there might be somewhere i can buy this item quite cheap new? as the seller has one and is included it in his price. Mabey he's just selling the item at a loss?

I mean I didn't want to be spending a few hours removing the wire and reinstalling all the panels, if you can just buy these for a £10 of amazon or ebay i was just wondering but I guess the wire would be a lot more then that to buy new?

Hi Roger,

I’ll have a look up for the part number shortly as I’m sure you could find a cheaper option.

Depending on the head unit you’re plugging it into you may need to adjust the coding with VCDS to state that a CD Changer is added. Someone like Tom @timmus will be able to confirm. I had the boot panel CD Changer mounted a few years ago and sure Tom added the cable via the correct installation path.

Give me an hour and I’ll see if I can find the part number and a different purchasing option.

Kind regards,

Tom

Hello again Roger,

To help out here’s a few links to study whilst I find the part number:

Link 1 gives the general idea of the retrofit. PDF also within the link.

Link 2 last post explains the Pinout.

hope this helps out for now as cannot find the part number for the lead right now.

Kind regards,

Tom

Afternoon Roger,

I’ve not yet located the part number for the lead with the round connector but did find this on eBay:

Here’s the link to it @ £22.99. No affiliation with the seller.

Hopefully Tom @timmus can help you out here as it may well be something he has in stock. This isn’t something I know too much about but sure I’d work it out with a wiring and Pinout diagram, simply trying to assist.

Kind regards,

Tom

Roger/Tom

The part number is 4B0 051 735 D and can be found within this 7Zap page: https://audi.7zap.com/en/rdw/audi+a2/a2/2003-248/0/057-57015/#6
Steve,

Thank you very much indeed. Really helpful and should see Roger find what he’s after.

The amount of help I’ve had in recent months has always resulted in someone referring me to 7zap. Should have been the first place I looked.

Must remember 7zap, must remember 7zap.

Thanks again.

Kind regards,

Tom

It's a part from the C5/4B A6 of that generation (1997-2005) in case that assists with parts. Would obviously recommend new if possible.

One available in Poland new - (obviously now less easy but maybe still feasible?)

Online-Teile also have it -

I came up with the same part number but that one in Poland does not have the round DIN plug for the CD changer

Cheers Spike

I will have another go at it tomorrow I didn't have enough time today, I just was a bit cautious to remove it as I have never removed a dash on a audi a2 before, I have however recently bought a halfords advanced 200 piece tool set so I may aswell put it to good use.
I just thought I would be able to pull the wire thought as it is nearly out completely (just wrapped up with the other wires behind the dash) but its best to strip and remove completely then refit at least that way nothing is getting damaged or no wires are coming lose, when i have been working on my a2 it just shows how well built these cars actually are compared to other cars there is always more fixtures and connections then initially expected and everything is compact, more in my opinion then other cars like vw golfs ect.

With some help from my 10year old son I was able to push the wire down while he pulled it from the boot and the wire came out in less then a minute.
Saved me from removing the dash.
