6 Disc CD Changer..

My Boot mounted 6 Disc CD changer stopped working. It had been working perfectly since I got the car 10 days ago. Just after I'd parked up by Pen y Fan (on the way to A2steve's) - I started the car and the screen indicated that it was loading each CD, but kept stating "CD ERROR" and wouldn't play. It then kept loading each Disc continually, but no joy. Are these players repairable, or even worth it?... is there a good alternative or substitute that anyone's tried?

Hi.
Try removing the cd cartridge and blowing it out. Also insert a cd lens cleaning disc(cd with cotton brushes on it) into one of the slots, select and play. It might be just the cd lens is dirty and not reading discs?
Good luck

I wonder if it could have been condensation build up, which often used to be an issue with CD changers in cars, particularly after wet spells in the summer.

Worth considering for (when) if it breaks again is the Anycar/XCarLink MP3/Bluetooth adaptors, which emulate a CD Changer. I find them more flexible than the CD Changer, for about £79 on Amazon, plus you get the advantage of a built in hands free adaptor.

10 minute fitting too.

Hi Jeremy

Could you post a link, I can't find it.

Thanks

Have you got a picture of yours... where you fitted it, and how you routed the connections ..?

Afraid not, as I don't actually have on in my car at the moment, however there was a thread a week or so back about these. To be honest, most people seem to fit it in the little cubby hole underneath the ashtray which works quite well, and just drill a hole in the back of this part to route the cable up to the head unit. Once there it's just a case of plugging in the plug to the CD Changer slot, and screwing in the earth cable to the back of the head unit (from memory, a very small TORX screwdriver helps, I can't remember the size though).
