8.4L/100Km

Hello fellow A2 owners.

I need your help.
Is it normal for a A2 1.4 petrol engine, from 2000, with 91.000km, to 'drink' 8.4L of fuel in 100km?

In Portugal, Unleaded95 costs around 1.39€, and I only make 170km with 20€, at most..

I am afraid that there is anything wrong with the car.

I bought it a couple of weeks ago.

Regards.

In "old money" thats 33.7 miles per gallon. That sound excessive, but if the 100 km is entirely short trips spread out over a week (ie 10 lots of 10k with the engine cold each time) then 33.7mpg is probably right.

Hello,

My A2 1.4 petrol when runs only in urban trafic do 8.4 - 8.7 l/100. But in open roads, long and short trips the fuel consumption down to 6.1 or less in very long trips (with 98 oct. fuel, usually BP Ultimate).

Regards.

yes.less or more consumption of my 1.4.
in highway at 130-150 km/h consumption is 6,5/100 km whit aircon.

cheers

8.4L/100km is about 33.6mpg(imperial). Which is on the low side for the 1.4 petrol. Saying that, i often see this number but knowing I've been naughty with my right foot as well as getting stuck in traffic in London. So, if you drive in city and if I guess, in much warmer weather than the UK, air conditioning is needed most of the time. Then that number can be expected. When I drive sensibly around town, i get about 37mpg which is about 7.6L/100km. On the longer journies on motorway, i can get 42mpg+ which is 6.7L/100km.

I manage to get 7.1L/100km on my daily commute, it includes Motorway & London roads and no Aircon. Tend to stick to Shell V-Power.

8.4 is more than possible on short trips.
5.4 is possible on longer ones with a light right foot, light wheels, and low limits.

Are you running on 17"s?

I'm currently running on Shell V-Power diesel on my TDI SE90, this will be the 3rd tank of this super-expensive juice.

I've filled the tank to the utmost top, squeezing 41.50 litres into it.

Using an extremely light foot, and trying to keep the revs below 2000, the current tank is on 257.7 miles. DIS reports an average MPG of 55.6, with an average speed of 14mph (im assuming that includes stationary), with 380 miles left to go.

Considering this is about 80% driving around London, with the remaining 20% cruising down the A13, A12, A1 or around the A406, that's not bad going for a 5 year old car with 73k on the clock :D

I mostly do two trips of 10 minutes per day (engine mostly cold), urban, with aircon only as needed and coasting in 5th on descents, I get between 7.8 and 8.8l/100km

On highway, only me, 150-160km/h, last did around 7.3l/100km, but it was in dire need of servicing... Usually does 6.9 or less. In a highway the aircon of the A2 doesn't impact a lot on the consumption.

Not half bad for a car with 10 years under the belt!

Huge savings in fuel are not available for the petrol A2s. Huge savings in BUYING used petrol A2s instead of a TDI, that's another thing, and make up for the difference at the pump for a few years.
