A “Unicorn” A2 has been found.

I never thought that one would be discovered but it has.

it is an A2 that nobody expected to find.

Wait for it.

It is a fully (and I mean fully) specced 1.6 FSI.

Nothing new about that BUT (and it is a BIG BUT)
It is a BRAND NEW UNREGISTERED car, that has been kept in storage
Mileage on the clock is around THREE miles!
The paintwork is still in the manufacturers wax.

Before you start checking your bank balance and dreaming about buying it, you are unfortunately too late.

A member has already arranged to buy it.

My lips are sealed (and it is NOT ME, but I wish it was)

Steve B. (Green with envy)

Who is going to try to figure out it’s true value?
I would think that because the A2 is a unique car, even more so in full spec FSI form, it has to be genuinely worth £20k plus. Possibly £30k. A museum/collector or even Audi themselves would surely pay a lot for it!

Anyone else like to have a guess at it’s true value (not what the member paid for it)

I was luck enough to see a unicorn around 25 years ago while on a trip to Italy. I was looking for an old Alfa Romeo to drive back to the UK and had found an immaculate Alfasud, but during protracted negotiations over the price and the essential return of the ‘tagga’ (paper work), the young sales man took us to the back of the Lancia main dealership. He drew back an unassuming cover to reveal an as new works Lancia Delta S4 Integrale with 1000+ BHP and only delivery milage. Apparently it was the franchise owner nest-egg, and now worth the best part of £1,000,000. I realise an as new A2 might not command such a premium but all unicorns are priceless!

I used to sell cars to a guy back in the day when I worked for Ford, he had an old hanger, he bought one of the last escort rs cosworth lux new of me. In his hanger he had loads of mint old Fords including an escort Mexico, rs2000, rs200, Sierra rs 3dr, sapphire cosworth and lotus cortina. All were under 1k miles, god knows what that lot are worth now!!!

“Couldn’t use it?” The new owner may have something to say about that.

It has been kept on special stands and looked after. It will need to be recommisioned and new cambelt etc amongst other things. But it will be ok. But I am possibly giving away too much info.

I will leave it to the lucky devil that is buying it to be specific.

So no servicing because never used. IT SHOULD NEVER BE USED.
This is very probably the ONLY unregistered A2 in the world.
Whoever the new owner is MUST do the right thing and preserve it as it is. No commissioning for the road. Do not even start it up.

I never actually said it was going to be driven, but I didn’t say that it wasn’t either.

I think that if you were to just think of this as a new car you would want to drive it. But as a mega rare modern classic example keeping it wrapped in cotton wool is a shame too.
The ideal thing is for it to be on show somewhere, but it is up to the new owner of course!

I must say I’m not sure I agree. But then I certainly wouldn’t buy such a vehicle because I would be literally torn down the middle!
