A/C Woes.

A/C System was running perfectly. Some work was carried out and the system was re-gassed. Great.

Radiator Fan failed, so that has been replaced. Now it runs all the time, even when the Engine is cold and Climate Control is switched off.

Whereas previously one A/C pipe would be hot and the other cold, this wasn't the case.

Apparently, fault codes were cleared. I'm feeling pretty pissed off; I've spent thousands this year on Preventative Maintenance; hopefully all it will take is another re-gas.

Windows fogging up is really doing my head in!

What has been done to the climate. Are you sure the problem was with the fan not the fan controller. Anything else changed? Was it regassed correctly and not over pressured or under?

Hi, thanks for your reply.
The engine was removed for the replacement of the Balance Shaft Drive Chain and Tensioners; Clutch and Cambelt.

A Third Party Garage re-gassed the A/C.

The Radiator Fan became intermittent in operation; I'm absolutely not suggesting this is in connection with the above mentioned work... I tested the 'Fan and then booked into my Local Garage.

They ran Diagnostic Checks and replaced the Fan. It now runs all the time- even when cold and the A/C off or with ECON selected.

The system had been utterly reliable; I only needed to replace one Fan Control Module à couple of years ago when the Fan Operation was intermittent.

Will have to see what happens tomorrow! ?‍♂️?‍♂️?‍♂️

Another full scan, system pressure check, make sure the climate hoses are correctly fitted right way round ( can not remember if they are Murphey proof ) on the compressor, check all electrics undamaged, fan controller as the wiring can get damaged or the unit faulty and fuses and earths.

Hi, from my DIY'ers extensive experience on ACs is that they cannot go this wrong that quick. So it is either something silly, small or both.

Well, Alison was Re-Gassed on the 24th. Was at 25% capacity. Fully charged, still no A/C.

It seems like the pump isn't working.

Time to book into an A/C Specialist. ?

Do you have evidence that the pump is not working? Have you checked the pressure sensor? That could stop the system from working. It can be changed without re-gassing.

I presume that it's above about 5deg where you are ? the aircon cuts out / does not work in cold temps to protect the system

*Update*
I took Alison for her MOT and the Garage also identified the problem; there was a leak on the Filter Drier Pipe; the O Ring was broken. No complaints; Alison is eighteen this year (!)

After research here, the Lower Radiator Hose Temperature Sensor was replaced.

The reason for replacing this was that the recently replaced Radiator Fan was running at high speed all the time, even with the Climate Control switched off!

Thankyou very much for your replies. Saved a lot of hassle and money as I was able to give clear and concise instructions to the Garage! ? ? ? ???
