A few habits Audrey has picked up - thoughts please:

Habit 1: Occasionally when hot restarting, the engine turns over but won’t fire. It will fire up on perhaps the third turn of the key. This doesn’t happen often but it’s happening slightly more regularly according to its current custodian.

Habit 2: The ashtray above the front central console is very reluctant to stay closed when you push it in - is this symptomatic of a broken part?

Habit 3: Something has broken on the windscreen washer reservoir- when it’s filled beyond a certain point, or when the washers are operated, Audrey wets the ground beneath her in a most undignified fashion.

Suggestions?

Habit 1. Check that your fuel cap is achieving a complete seal.

I've no meaningful experience of the TDi, but I think that concern transfers across from the petrol A2s.

Can't help on 1).

On 2) it sounds like the ashtray latching mechanism is getting sticky. It's a pin that follows a shaped groove when the ashtray is pushed in and, under the pressure of the spring, starts to open but comes to a stop in a trap in the groove just after the front of the ashtray is let go of. Pushing it again sends the pin down the other track in the groove back to the full open position. The whole thing comes out as a unit with just two screws (they may be hidden if you have a double-DIN dash, I think the strip above the ashtray just clips over them). There is an electrical connector on the back for the red internal light. You'll be able to see the groove mechanism I'm talking about at the back of the unit.

On 3) it sounds like you've got a split pipe somewhere up from the washer pump towards the jets. AFAIK the bottle and pump are in front of the front passenger wheelarch liner but depending on where the split is, that's potentially not fun to get in there and replace or repair.
