A further announcement A2Steve parts

Woo hoo, brilliant news, I can say that I have found you to be an enormous help with my decisions on A2's, and for that I am eternally grateful.
Add on to that the fact that I feel like I've made more of a friend than a supplier(I could never say that about Eurocarparts!!), this is all good news for everyone involved..
Lets hope you can start getting an influx of offers from folk with A2's for you to break...
Andy

I’ve never used your services, but I enjoy reading your posts. I expect to be a regular customer soon, having purchased an FSI ? ( one I believe may have briefly been on your drive - Boxy a2 ). I agree with the others about charging fair prices.
Cheers, Andy

As a first suggestion, why don't we all create free Wanted ads on Gumtree and Facebook that will come up in searches of our local areas. When taking any enquiries, we should then say that we are A2OC members acting to help a club specialist in maintaining a parts supply, and either pass on your details to them or theirs to you.
I think that’s a fantastic idea mate. Fee free to just use my number 07790965448 when placing an advert.

Here you go Steve. Any suggestions for improvement welcome. Suggest we all use the same advert for maximum recognition.

EDIT: Gumtree has removed the advert saying it should be in SERVICES, not WANTED. I have raised a support case questioning the decision.

Great idea and I’m happy to help. One question though, Steve - do you want any caveats added?

I’m thinking how far is too far? Do you want me to mention it’s Wales and it’ll have to be a really good deal to make the transportation worthwhile from up here in Glasgow?

Love the advert.

Brilliant Ian, thank you!! If the club is happy with this going out then i'm very grateful for the support. I won't put any limitations on offers as I think it will be best to just politely decline ones that aren't suitable.

Good point, while no-one's said anything yet, I suppose I'd better check with the rest of the Admin team ... update soon.

There is a God ?

You gave us all quite the scare @A2Steve !

Whilst it doesn't negate the fact that breakers are harder to come by this year for some reason, where there's a will there's a way as they say, and with the collective will of A2OC behind you that should hopefully yield a steady enough stream to keep things viable for you.

And absolutely, charge more! Supply vs Demand ... simple economics, and having had the scare we've had this week there should be plenty of folk willing to pay an extra 20% on top of what you usually charge to keep you from having to reach the decision you reached a few days ago, and keep them from having to consider paying extortionate prices from other breakers on eBay and the likes, or worse, having to consider scrapping their own treasured aluminium friends.

It's hugely honourable in this day and age to hold a value as you do to not want to rip people off, and many on here have huge respect for you for that, but the days of doing it for the love have to be balanced with there being a fair exchange of the time and energy you put in with respect to what people receive for their money relative to market prices from other sellers for the same parts.

I'm off out now to sit in my car and breathe a huge sigh of relief :D

As others have said, if you pay a bit more for your breakers then you will have to charge commensurately more for your service. You've been doing this long enough to know the economics but this caught my eye:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20281737...9869.N36.S2.typeWATCH_ITEM_ENDING_SOON.R1.TR1

£750 for a breaker might make you shudder or laugh but there is a nice set of leather seats in this which changes the economics a bit. I would have been interested myself but mine is a 5 seater and the seats are 4.

The seller has no feedback despite his 198 purchase history on eBay. Seems a bit odd as does the tone in his description.

I think at £750 he’s being a bit optimistic for a non running TDI with 200k. I have tried making him offers but he thinks the seats are worth £600, we we all know they are not.

Fair enough, you have it in hand....as usual!

Maybe when he gets no bids and it doesn't sell he will come back to you.

Given the location it's not Mr Bullzbitz under another account is it?

Right, we have a text for an advert to help locate breakers for Steve, discussed and approved by the Admin team. ?

The main changes have been to rewrite it in the voice of the individual A2OC member rather than that of the club as a whole, and it does not now identify Steve or provide his phone number.

Obviously the implication is that when we post it, we give our own contact details, we take the details of the prospective seller and their car, and we pass them on to Steve for him to make contact. (I imagine PM on here or a text to his phone 07790965448 would be the best way.

Please do not change the approved text, except to add your own contact details if necessary. You can download and use the picture I've put up here (it's one of Steve's that he uses on Facebook), if we all use the same one it should get better recognition.

Right then gentlemen (and any ladies present :)) let's get busy! Please post away on as many free ad sites as you can find in order to get coverage in your local area.

AUDI A2s WANTED *** No MOT, needs work, uneconomic repair, non-runner, damaged, unwanted etc

Audi A2 wanted (2).jpg

End of life Audi A2s wanted to safeguard the continued supply of parts for members of the Audi A2 Owners Club (A2OC).

I am a member of A2OC and I am looking for Audi A2s that are beyond economic repair to help keep enthusiast club members cars on the road. Parts for older cars are becoming rarer and rarer and the Audi A2 is no exception.

DO YOU HAVE an Audi A2 that is accident damaged, needs significant work to make roadworthy, is a non-runner or is just unwanted/surplus to requirements?

BEFORE SELLING to a car buying service or part exchanging within a scrappage scheme, please consider if your car might be what I am looking for.

PLEASE CONTACT ME in the first instance. With your agreement, contact details and information about the car will be passed on to an experienced specialist club member, who will contact you. A polite friendly response is guaranteed, with a quick decision regarding purchase, and absolutely no time-wasting.

A2OC PROMOTES maintaining and preserving Audi A2s wherever possible. I fully endorse these ethics. Please be reassured, all cars purchased will be assessed and those which are saveable will be repaired and returned to the road.

Looks great, but may I suggest the removal of the sentence “getting rarer and rarer”. This may automatically add ££££ signs to their expected offer ?

I thought that too tbh.

Really like the last paragraph about keeping as many cars on the road as possible but think the last but one paragraph needs a little tweeking imho as it doesn't sound quite as inviting as it possibly could.

Sure, that doesn't change any implication of the advert on the club, which is what the Admin team is concerned about.

With GDPR I believe we have to make it clear that we would be passing on contact details etc. (sad, but that's the times we live in). The rest of the paragraph is all positives though - perhaps they would do better as separate bullet points in a similar style to the other paragraphs?

So, here comes take #4 ? of the advert :D Any further thoughts?

It's the second to last paragraph now, the 'CONTACT ME' details. Just sounds a little like those Internet scammers that ask you to email them and send money, if you know what I mean? Might just be me ??
