Menno
A2OC Donor
Hello people of A2OC,
My name is Menno. A couple of months ago I purchased an A2 with an ATL Tdi engine, building year 2005.
When it it was advertised it stated that it had a broken down turbo. I took a risk to buy it, and was lucky that there was only a hose from turbo to IC ripped.
There's still some more TLC to be done, but the first weeks I got it it's been upgraded with a CC and a re-map/closing EGR........ Things you woul'd normally do when everything else is in fine order.
These upgrades could be done by Timmus, and there was not much time to wait for it, because he was visiting the Netherlands...... the country I live in, so swift action was required to get it done before he left the country again.
Stil very happy with these extra item's, Tom did a great job!
The maintenance after a couple of month's now involved:
- New hose between turbo and intercooler
- Oil (5w40 Castrol) change and filters & broken dipstick fix...
- Air filter and interior filters
- New glow/heating plugs
- New front wheel hubs/bearings
- New CV joints at driveshafts
- New aircopump, dryer/filter and pressure sensor
- New thermostat and coolant temp sensor, and G12 liquid.
- Audi A8 "Winterfelgen" re-aligned/drilled to fit on 5X100 hubs, new tires all around (195-50/16).
And some bobs and bits I forgot about.
All this I've done myself and offcourse with some info found on A2 fora.
Tooling is present, the only things that I've bought to make life easy is an el cheapo chinese VAG OBD reader and the tooling for the wheel bearings.
Next stop is changing the wishbones. L/H side was already changed in the past (at former owner) with a new steel pressed type, but the R/H was left alone and is now looking a little bit nasty.
I've searched for a replacement pressed plate one and bought some but was not happy with the quality and difference in silent mounts and returned them to the supplier.
So in the end I bought TRW JTC1140 / JTC1141 forged ones with the "fixed" ball joint. That way I'm assured that left and right hand side are the same in terms of silent rubbers and age.
In this link to the dutch Audi A2 forum you can find some pictures to go along with this introduction:

Well that's it, I hope I may be excused for any faults in my English........
