I've had to buy a new battery for Vera. Very good service from Tayna with a next day delivery. My wife pointed out that it needed the travel vent stoppers removing or it would have exploded....whoops !.

Modern batteries don't produce much hydrogen (if any), that's why you never have to top up the electrolyte. Something to do with how little antimony there is in the lead, I believe.

Concerned about losing electronic memories when changing my battery so I got advice from a auto electrician . He loaned me a lead which fits in the diagnostics and takes power from the cigarette lighter socket on a jump starter . Sorted !
Bought a lead on Amazon for £9 but it's on the way from China !

Sorry, didn't see this at the time. Despite what the warning label says, you should only remove one vent plug in an A2 battery, the one the vent pipe plugs into. The one at thev other end should remain plugged, since the battery is sited within the passenger cell of the car.
