recommendations on a new clutch.

dont care specifically about the brand, my car may well still be on its original clutch.

it is not slipping, but sometimes the gearchanges are a bit awkward (not always) and i am putting this down to the car being 180k'ish miles and very well used.

if i drive the car fast / hard, after a while sometimes there is a crunch between some gears (i have been driving around this for about 2yrs now! got it to a tee!!!)

want to get the clutch changed to see if this will fix the issues, and i feel like it needs doing anyway. just a bit awkward to use now. im sure it would last another 5yrs as it is, but i would much rather get it done and enjoy the car to its full potential!

looking to pick the right clutch kit for the car, to make the job easier and the whole process of changing a simple drift for whoever does it.

do i need anything else apart from an actual clutch kit

for example LUK 3pc kit (?)

When I change the clutch I would also change the clutch bearing sleeve . Part number 02a 141 180a . As they wear and get grooves in.

Clutch is unlikely to be the issue here, its very common issue for the synchros to grind if change fast in fact mine does it going into third.
My plan is to fit the JDD bluemotion box to get a better cruising car and its said the actual gearbox is stronger than original EWQ.

Just changing the clutch might not make you happy with end result (bearing guide tube also a must!)

I have just put a clutch in my tdi, it was eBay and unbranded. I have to say I’m realy pleased with it, the bite point and feel is great, absolutely no judder, super smooth and very light. It’s made our other 2 tdis feel very agricultural in comparison.

Sweet!
Have you got a link?
Sometimes premium clutches are in alternative branded packaging! Some have reported cheap clutches to rattle, Jason from tired format did on his YouTube vid

Did it have any other manufacturer names on it or just comline?
Didn’t notice anything. I wasn’t really looking though, it was to go on the tdi that cost £380, so really wasn’t that bothered , but since then it’s really grown on me having done 1000 miles in the last few weeks, deemed as scrap or spares, it’s really rather good, and well specced 😀
