A2 AUA 1.4 16v air intake temperature and error p17961.

Hello all.

My lovely a2 (1.4 petrol aua engine) start to give problems again :D As usual the problem fells like misfire between 1500 rpm and 2100 rpm.
This time vag com scan say error:
17961 - Barometric / Manifold Pressure Signals P1553 - 35-10 - Implausible Correlation.

But this time i found something strange when doing the vag com diagnostic. In group 11 measuring blocks the intake air temperature for the engine is not correctly readett. Its saying 66C 70C degrees. But the outside air temperature was max 31C degrees.

So now the big question ,is the air intake temperature for the engine given from the MAP sensor ? My manual say that we have too sensors one G42 and G71 ,but im thinking they are combined ?

As usual i chek for intake exaus leaks - all fine.
New spark plugs.
Egr valve clean reseted.
Thotle body clean and reseted.
Engine earth points clean as new.

Any help will be appreciated!!

I have exactly the same problem. My mechanic says the intake temperature is high just when the misfire happens. He is suspecting a clogged catalytic converter. Did you solve your problem?

No the problem is still here.
As usual the problem fells like misfire between 1500 rpm and 2100 rpm getting sick off this...........

Bjohan are you going to remove the catalytic convertor to chek it?

Next weak i will replace the N80 valve ,new spark plugs and ,new oil cap seal...

I have been chasing this problem since I bought the car a year ago. I have a long list of things I have done even cambelt change and new EGR. The car runs better now with much more stable idling but this misfireing problem is not better. I have also replaced the N80 valve and most of the rubber hoses but it made no difference.

I get sometimes a loud beep and a large red brake warning light comes on together with EPC and ABS warning light. Do you have the same?

Did you change the catalytic converters?

On these engines the front lambda is the first thing I would change if it hasn’t been done in a while.

I actually have another A2 in which I just replaced the front Lambda because I had an error code 17598. I have put this in another thread. https://www.a2oc.net/community/index.php?threads/lambda-sensor-error.44493/

The lambda replacement did nothing. I still the same error code. The old lambda was probably ok but there is either a wirering problem or ECU problem. It seems like the ECU doesn't get any information from the front lambda. I will do more measurement on his today.
